Leaving Earth #2

Didn’t you say there were 2 cards on the advancement before?

@RogerBW Quick question - can I test Rover on Earth?
I’ll buy Rover tech regardless, as well as a rover itself. The rest will depend on whether I can test down here or not.

Edit: I’ve read the actual rules now - I think the asnwer is no, but it’s a very cheap tech. So I’ll buy it and a rover for 7 spacebucks, then two soyuz and 1 food and 2 vostok (leaving me 2?).

@yashima - quite right, apologies.

@Lordof1 - a Rover can only be tested in a place with explorable locations.

Rover advancement: 3
Rover: 4
2 Soyuz @ 8: 16
Food: would be 1, but you don’t have Life Support
2 Vostok @ 2: 4

You have 17 money total. Which things do you want?

Sorry, lost track that we were part-way through a round. I’ll get Rover tech, a rover and a Soyuz please.

OK, on to me.

With 15 in hand I’ll develop Synthesis. End turn.

@RossM?

I’ve got no money left I believe, and nothing else to do so pass?

Ok, skipping players with no money, @Lordof1 you’re up with 2 left.

Hmmm okay. I may as well get a couple of Juno, then done

OK, only I have any money left and I’m saving it, so I’ll declare end of year 1963 here.

  • No damaged components or incapacitated astronauts.
  • ОКБ-1 tests Life Support twice:
    • Minor Failure, pay off with ¤5
    • Success, pay off free of charge
  • Time tokens removed. Shinji arrives in Venus flyby.

1964

  • Everyone sets money to ¤30.

Turn order:

  1. China - @lalunaverde

  2. Japan - yashima

  3. USA - Lordof1

  4. USSR - RogerBW

  5. France - RossM

Can I just triple check - you can’t carry money over from a previous year?

You can save it for testing life support, you can’t use it next turn.

How are you paying off the major failure free of charge @RogerBW

Also I think Obelix should be in Mars Cycler with 2 time tokens.

Mistypes, it was Minor Failure followed by Success.

Agreed, I should have put it there at end of your turn.

Buy a Soyuz

Assemble and launch

  1. Ion Thrusters
  2. Soyuz

Earth to EO: Mass: 10. Thrust Req: 80. Thrust Total: 80
EO to IPL: Mass: 1 Thrust Req 3. Thrust Total 5

Pay off results

Repeat with a 2nd set of
Ion Thrusters
Soyuz

Item Expense Balance
Buy Soyuz 8 22
Buy off success outcome 10 12
Buy off success outcome 10 2

One outcome left on Ion Thrusters advancement. ¤2 remains. Anything else right now?

That was really annoying.

Junos with those 2 squids pls

Over to @yashima.

Can I survey Venus from here? edit: oh i remembered it was surveyed. do I need to try to get rid of potential failure though?

In any case, this is a year I can slingshot over to Jupiter from here, right? This is what Shinji will do then.
Also fire 1 June Rocket and buy off any failure that remains.

Also is that Kusanagi in Mercury Fly-By? If so, I would also attempt to survey.

You may indeed test Surveying by surveying an area that has already been explored. (Outer Planets limits you to one Survey attemped per probe/capsule per turn.)

Your Survey is a Failure. ¤5 if you want to buy that off.

Jupiter and Nepture slingshots are open this year. Shinji is mass 3, difficulty 1, 3 thrust needed, 10 thrust generated.

The Juno is a success. Removed card free of charge.

Kusanagi still has 2 Time before it arrives in Mercury Fly-By.

I want to buy off the failure. Thank you
So what to do with 25 spacebucks.

So I would like to test landing. The rules don’t suggest I need any specific component for that but I may be overlooking something, it just says “Spacecraft” whereever I checked. I still have a mess of things in EO right. There should be something there that I can try to Land, just a single component. Detach and Land, preferably a Juno Rocket if not a probe. (I don’t quite remember what’s up there). Buy off whatever. Then try again a second time and buy off only if it is a failure.
