Isn’t that the rub though? In some ways a big box would kill that portability. If they do a big box solution I think they’d be well advised to include space for a more generic “travel box” that might fit just a few decks/dials/minis.
Yeah, offering a big box for 10-20 fighters for home storage, and boxes for 2 or 4 fighters but with more generic storage for travel would be great.
I’m curious if any game has actually done this. It’s such an in demand option, I’m surprised to see so many games make big, heavy, cumbersome boxes that can never leave the house, all in the name of “ease of storage”.
Too Many Bones trove chest, Trickerion collector’s edition, It’s a Wonderful World heritage edition, Scythe big box. All horrendous to take anywhere, and far too nice to risk damaging in transit.
In Restoration’s defense, this type of game typically gets plenty of third party support for peripherals and accessories once popular enough. In Park’s case it’s a trickier proposition.
I have the huge box of everything that was available in the Star Realms Frontiers kickstarter, and what I take out with me is the Frontiers box itself (maybe with a thing or two added from the big box).
There’s a decent one-set Unmatched storage solution for 3d-printing on thingiverse, but they’re a bit expensive.
I’ve just ordered an eight compartment box and 25 ‘postal 50’ boxes (25 was cheaper than ordering 10) to contain my two Unmatched sets.
My own personal cult of enough says that 8 fighters will keep me entertained for a while should I like it.
uuhhh… I did a bad thing. But it was Black Friday! I swear!
Had a look at Capstone Game’s sale on their website. Got Lignum and Race for the Chinese Zodiac for 15 and 10 Americanian dollaroonies, respectively. Not sure about Stick Em if it’s good, but I’ll give it a shot.
Loot of Lima - I like deduction games. Not sure if it can beat Search for Planet X in my heart
Ashes. The two “deluxe expansions” (that were just a deck plus the new dice needed for it) are intended as travel boxes. I’ve pulled the insert out of one and it happily holds the six basic decks (+1 more) and all the dice and tokens.
An old order I had placed (and nearly forgotten about) for Wingspan finally showed up yesterday. I had been on the fence about this one, so had made sure I got a decent price for it while it was out of stock.
Also ordered Istanbul, Air Land and Sea and Arboretum as Christmas presents for friends.
My husband got given some Amazon vouchers by his work, so yesterday morning he ordered Everdell, which arrived at 8:30 pm the same day
I have those nifty Ashes deck boxes. Removed both inserts and put it all the basic + exp decks and dices. Tokens are stored in a small plano box.
I suppose tournament card games already have a pre-established culture of deck boxes being a thing! The rest of the tabletop world needs to catch up.
So I was on a self-imposed purchasing hiatus until after Christmas, but with my wife’s encouragement I went to our FLGS to escape the house for a bit, and gave me a $25 limit to work with that I had no intention of using.
So, of course, I spent $55.
Wait, I can explain. The store was having a ding and dent sale, which I was not aware of. One of the games for sale was Star Wars: Rebellion, which I have wanted for a while, but not for $100. Enter the $55 price tag. And the ding was so minor, it took me a minute of searching to actually find it: a small white crease along one of the edges, possibly a tear, I have not yet removed the shrink wrap.
I called my wife to discuss it, but got no answer and left a VM. After a couple of minutes, I made the executive decision to pick it up, knowing my wife is a generous and understanding sort, especially when it comes to sale pricing.
It is now stashed away for Christmas.
I’d say you made the right call. 45% off for a small tear… did they have any more?
I totally bought that BTW
Aka swift kick in the butt out the door, he needed a break.
That escalated fast.
To give credit he did call me. I couldn’t answer because the kids were winning.
Not in the ding and dent sale, though there were a number of other games. Mysterium would have been tempting if I didn’t already own it.
That’s a bargain. Well done

Better to spend £55 on something you really will want than two lots of £25 on meh stuff imo. (Which let’s face it will inevitably happen).
(Of course what is more likely to happen is spending the 55 and then the 25 anyway).
Just done a splurge on merv after some discussions on here about it. And while I was at it I ordered Iwari. Self control is not a strength.
