Hobby Japan pilled apparently (I bought Guessocracy on purpose, because it was £20 and sounded original), wanted Gibberers for ages, and Slot Machine game was also £20 (after I haggled). So was Nokosu Duice, Ghost Lift, and probably L’oaf. £20 for something original is my weakness.
Someone on UKGE Sunday bought me Tenby. I picked it up today and played it
I am now an unemployed bum (still in the process of buying a cattery). My former colleagues generously had a collection for me and I used some of it to buy some games:
I missed the KS for the Obsession Rules Compendium and immediately jumped when it showed up somewhere I regularly order. For an unknown reason a bunch of small stuff shipped with it including a big squishy gumgum fruit.
and you have the stupid banana game too ![]()
I blame … … wait for it… you ![]()
- There’s a “Bring Your Own Book” reprint?!
- BGG shows me that this is the “German second edition”
- Is it all in German except for the title?
For an unknown reason a bunch of small stuff shipped with it
Weird, that keeps happening to me as well.
Is Wine and Cheese a successor to Beer and Bread? I get the same vibes from the title font.
I’m not sure about that. Just when I told my partner about a game that was called Wine and Cheese he immediately said I should buy it. He likes certain themes so much it almost doesn’t matter what the game is![]()
Very satisfying box insides.
Board looks like it could be a Rosenberg farming game. It’s 2 player and the box is Patchwork sized. I think Beer and Bread is bigger.
Yes.
Found Abducktion with its expansion at Goodwill yesterday for $7. Looks sort of cute, so figure I’d take a chance on it. I feel like my older kid is getting closer to the point he might be able to try some simple games. I have no idea how simple this is, to be fair, but the little toy ducks can not be overlooked.
Got this from the Netherlands as the UK can’t stock Rio Grande stuff in a reasonable timeframe. Race for the Galaxy: Off The Rails
Ooh, I should probably pick that up, with so much RftG lying around the house.
Because I really enjoyed my BGA plays of it, and have not seen a copy in retail, I went ahead and purchased Agent Avenue on eBay. I have waited for a reprint for a while, as I would have liked to give the money to my FLGS, but it just has not come. So that should be making its way to me within the next 2-3 weeks.
A Carnivore Did It!
I knew this was for me the moment I saw it. It’s boolean logic puzzles presented as an anthropomorphic animal police line-up (or “circle-up”, for gameplay reasons), in which each suspect has given a statement, but all the lie-detector test results have gotten jumbled up so that all you know is how many lies were told, but not who told them. In addition you know how many culprits you’re looking for, and the solution to each puzzle is the specific culprits.
Each puzzle has exactly one possible solution (if you think there are more possibilities then you’ve missed something), and there are 2000 puzzles provided in the box (starting very easy, and getting much harder). You can play them randomly as one-off puzzles, or work through a series of easy-to-hard cases against the clock for points as a mini “campaign”).
That last case is from dossier 19 of 20 (which are broadly ordered by difficulty), so it’s a challenging one!
It’s normal boolean algebra (for those of us who use that in their day jobs), so for instance “A and B did X” is a lie if at least one of them did not do X; and “A or B did X” is a lie only if neither of them did X.
Ooh! Could I persuade you to run this as a PBF?
So I bought Goldbräu from a German seller on eBay. It’s Franz Benno-Delonge, cube rails style share accumulation and simultaneous action selection.
They were selling a ‘good condition’ one for £6.28 inc. free delivery to the UK. I have no idea how they made money on that. Anyway, it got refunded, presumably because they wouldn’t make money on the deal. Yesterday, it turned up in my house. I think it was refunded as it’s missing the start player marker and a payday marker.
No communication, just a refund and free game.
Looks like my copy of Agent Avenue is a counterfeit. ![]()
Reporting it to eBay.
I don’t know whether it’s counterfeiting or just distributed production, but I have not yet seen two copies of Flip 7 in the same sort of box.
