Guys, I bought Mexican Samurai[1]
Just don’t ask how much ↩︎
Was it an arm and a leg, or just one limb? ![]()
One limb, my choice
Mexican Samurai sounds like something you’d find in the Profanosaurus
is that just the game “samurai” in mexican language?
or something entirely different?
It is the game by Knizia called Samurai
I really don’t care for the retheme/art to competitive picnics. Which is odd as I’m OK with the change of theme in Gazebo from Qin
Competitive picnics is really forced retheme, and I kind of hate everything with a Japanese theme being hanami.
I recall discussing the retheme but I don’t think there were many details available at the time. I should look up the rule book…
A couple of pricey punts from The Game Crafter. Grey Gnome Games (which is essentially Jason Glover) have quite a following there, though, which means that when TGC runs a “crowd sale” for one of his games, enough people get involved for the price to drop from “too expensive” to merely “expensive” (plus the knowledge that it probably won’t ever be any cheaper). So I decided to take a punt on his new solo dungeon crawler UnderQuest while it was at a price I wasn’t going to reject outright.
I also bit the bullet on the (sadly not-on-sale) Desolate at the same time. I’d been curious about that one for years, but never caught a sale for it. I figured I might as well get it now, though, while I could have it shipped in the same parcel (UPS shipping is a large part of the reason TGC is so expensive for me – the shipping was the most expensive line item on the receipt for this order).
Reference Regicide included for scale.
I’ve been learning to play via the app, since it’s cheaper than getting all the expansions, but I do miss out on the lovely meeples!
Keep The Heroes Out!, I thought it sounded like a cool idea when it first came out, so I bought it. Co-ops go over well with my group.
I’ve now got a big list of games that I’ve bought recently, and I’m not getting any of them played.
Keep the Heroes Out!
Reign of Cthulhu
Crits and Tricks
Leviathan Wilds
Rumble Nation
Superstore 3000 (was cheap on Amazon)
For a Crown (also a Amazon cheapie)
Run Run Run!
Corps of Discovery
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to make it to my usual gaming days, one of my eyes has decided it would like to point in a different direction, so I’m getting double vision. And driving with double vision didn’t seem like a good idea.
Yeah, that’s not good with your eyes.
Hopefully it’s a decompensating phoria, but definitely don’t ignore it; I’d get it checked ASAP
Yup, went to the emergency department, which did nothing but backup my GPs diagnosis (which was diplopia and ptosis). Its actually (slowly) getting better by itself.
And I left a couple of games off my new game list, I also have
Light Speed Arena (which sounds so cool, you take a pic of the game and it works out the scoring)
Trash Talk! Not sure why I bought this
Cozy Stickerville
Animal Rescue Team
They were in my gaming bag so I had forgotten about them.
Torchlit is awesome, and Market Fresh has me interested
My Expo haul…
Gibberers
Big Shot (because the box is both beautiful and tiny)
Sardegna (this comes up a lot in ‘fans also like’) and was also on the Playte stand
The Initiative (pre arranged second hand purchase)
Things in Rings
I didn’t get in Hall 1 at all because I was helping my friend out so I barely looked at stalls. I did very well to resist Panda Spin - I could see the IPA stall from where I was.
I have sold many tins of tiny skulls and bit of forest. Miniatures and painting are not my thing at all, but people absolutely love what my friend Andy is doing (small things to stick on bases or terrains). I met so many people who are making dioramas.
Expo haul was
Gibberers on reading the rule book needs a switched on group
Democracy frankly bought because it was on the shelf labelled for Gibberers and only realise mistake after I had paid
more Container expansion for container. And yes buying it at UKGE would have been cheaper for the main game (if you ignore the not inconsiderable sunk costs of attending UKGE)
Torchlit nice …
Nokosu Dice
Can’t Stop one of the cute Playte versions
Shall we dance
All small boxes!
I try not to think about it much, but yeah, hindsight, it was better to grab Container standard or deluxe on UKGE. But I went for it due to sheer enthusiasm and Allplay are just so good at their Kickstarter logistics game that they make other publishers look like amateurs.
But yeah, their other stuff I just grab from their stall when I visit them in UKGE or SPIEL
And I hope that Asian stalls like Playte will continue showing up in UKGE again.
Found Small World of Warcraft at Goodwill for $10. Looked like it was all there and in good condition, so it came home with me.
Despite me owning the original and not having played it yet…
