All of my maths trades have now arrived, so in addition to In a Grove, I now have Pendulum, Airship City, Polarity, Super-skill Pinball: Ramp it Up, and Cloud City.
Very weird game, I feel like trying it again
I bought Solarius Mission for a very reasonable price in the states and a friend is shipping it over. Post Brexit the UK has removed some levels of post it receives so the gameās cost is now unreasonable due to postage being nearly twice as much as the game. I will not rant so much in this forum.
Iāve been going a bit crazy this last week (retail therapy) and have also acquired La Granja and Star Wars Outer Rim (plus Unfinished Business).
Not sure when Iām going to play any of this stuff, but I feel like Iāve got 4 games I should really enjoy and 3 of them were second hand.
La Granja is another buried BGA title but itās on there. Iāve always wondered if it is any good. Hit me upā¦
Will do. Iāve been tempted to start a game a few times but learning that weight of game async doesnāt work for me.
I really rate it. Only played on cardboard but it was a good wrangle. The cards are genuinely multi use, the market area is a touch weak but not bad and the tempo considerations are strong in this. I like the mini engine building bit too, has a greta way to skew peopleās flow and incentives. Highly recommended by me.
Decided my compulsive nature to own everything related to a game I play needed antagonising, so bought Final Girl and a couple of the feature film boxes. Add that to Marvel Champions and Unmatched for IPs Iāll sink far too much money in to.
As a joint Valentineās day present, my girlfriend and I bought ourselves Decorum. After the first two scenarios it a pretty firm hit, though its longevity will be determined by the upcoming app.
Iām picturing a mini figure of a 20 year old Scandanavian who crosses the board periodically to describe how your engine is destroying the environment, leading to midgame rules changes that impact your growth.
Star Wars Outer Rim plus Unfinished Business has arrived. Question for those who have played it (@Acacia @yashima ?), IIRC the expansion is the best way to play? Is it best to play a game or two without it, or jump in with everything?
Thanks
Just include the expansion cards at once.
We played without the ācareerā goals in the first game and I think we played with the ādefaultā end pieces and additional characters straight away. Which was fine and added the āgoalsā in the second game.
Having played without and been quite unenthused, Iād definitely say add at least some of it in from the start.
Thanks both
Iāve ordered a copy of votes for women. The fantasy theme really appealed to me.
in honesty I blame Cole wehrle for a growing interest in games with some historical background and the game gets some solid reviews of itās solo mode on BGG.
Space Biff is fast filling a SUSD hole where I ended up buying the reviewed hotness.
A hole in the SUSDenance?
Horrible Man. I only just ended up backing Sail because of him. ![]()
(I admit to looking at Votes for Women, too)
I was going to say you could get one game max out of the base game but Unfinished Business is necessary for a second round. There are some unnecessary bits like the ability to fly through the black hole you can hold off on if youāre trying to keep it simple. I donāt remember the terminology but the most important bit is the career goals that give you something to aim for in the game, which changes game to game and is unique around the table. And the extra cards are just extra cards that decrease the number of times you see any one thing.
Just bought Marrakech, MarraCash (sort of) and backed Zoo Vadis.
This year is going well for buying fewer games. Still resisting buying an 18XX
Picked up a copy of Escape The Curse of the Temple from FB. OOP, or maybe itās just hard to get in Australia. I actually used to own it, not sure why I sold it. Itās light, sure, but itās good fun.
Because itās an obsession, I ordered Unmatched: Teen Spirit from Restoration Games, so that should be here in a week or so, well ahead of the early April street date. Another Marvel set, this one with Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, and Cloak and Dagger.
