Last game you bought?

When the wife tells you to go to your FLGS and get yourself a Father’s Day present, you don’t argue. As such, I now have Unmatched: Ingen vs. Raptors. If there is not a card in there called “Clever Girl” I will be very disappointed.

EDIT: First card under the character card. I am not disappointed.

Raptors vs Bigfoot is a great fight, every time. Raptors vs Bruce Lee is also good, but somehow not as funny.

I am refreshing Mondo’s website hourly for an announcement of the TRex/Sadler pack. I neeeeed Bruce Lee vs a TRex, in these dark times.

Yeah, I am really interested in trying out Robin Hood, and could have picked up that set instead, but the Raptors! They are just too tempting not to get!

I just ordered cobbles and fog and the ingen set. Was hoping to get Bruce lee at the same time but it was sold out. So bought watergate instead. Gonna keep an eye out for Bruce though.

You will definitely not hear that from me. Blue Moon City is the only Knizia title I own and it’s fabulous.

My FLGS had a number of copies of Bruce, so you might have luck at a brick and mortar store.

There is only a couple in the city. But they’re not showing any on their websites. Seems like the UK has been cleared out. Cheers though.

Edit: Managed to find a uk online store that had 2 left (Osiris games, only one left now)

Edit edit: now googling storage solutions. I have a sickness.

So I bought El Grande: The Dice Game Rumble Nation and the Japanese edition of High Society because there is no need for the cards to be tarot sized in this game.

Picked up Nemo’s War as a father’s day gift from my wife. It had been sitting on my wish list for a long time.

I just got home with the Outsiders expansion for Skytear. This is a pretty easy to justify value-add, with 4 “new” Outsiders to use (especially useful for the 3 lane and upcoming 1 lane maps). New in quotations here as they are all basically deified versions of 4 of the existing heroes. The sculpts are lots of fun! Along with the associated outsider cards, the expansion includes 48 new power cards distributed between the 4 factions, which immediately opens up a little bit of deckbuilding for me, which is fun too.

I’m going to look forward to the new stuff in July for now (similar idea - new map, new power cards, QoL token set - just a value-add overall), but I’ll be very surprised if I don’t end up getting the first round of extra heroes.

I thought that whatever I got at my FLGS was my Father’s Day gift from my wife (I went with Unmatched: Ingen vs. Raptors, as mentioned above), but there was more! She also got me Ticket to Ride: London, which we will have to break in one of these days. Looks fun, a little simplified, but also adds the districts to the usual TtR formula to mix things up a bit.

Having been floored with both Summoner Wars and Crystal Clans (honestly kicking myself for not having discovered these gems prior to COVID-19; Crystal Clans still looks like a bit of a wildcard, but for the price I paid and the variety that comes in the base box and the clever mechanisms it uses, I certainly think it a lovely little 2-player card-based battle gem – and definitely has a nicer/cleaner aesthetic than Summoner Wars), I threw a low-ball bid on Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn. This is the first game in my collection by Isaac Vega- a designer I always look at and say, “Hmm, that’s an interesting idea… but I’ll pass” I don’t know how much deck-building capability is possible with just the base set of Ashes, but I’m not sure I’m bothered; If I like it enough to invest in doing any deck construction, I’m sure I’ll like it enough to grab up some expansion packs if/when they land on discount/clearance racks.

I started buying Ashes just after they announced the discontinuation, and I now have all the non-promo stuff at between 50% and 90% retail - the promos still go for a fair old premium.

I’ve played it about three times and lost every time. But I still like the game. I played a bit of Magic back in the day (the very early day - I’d got out by the time Ice Age came out) and it seems to fix all the things I really disliked about that (like not knowing what you’ll get in a box, the all-land/no-land hand, the endless game).

There’s a decent TTS mod, and I wouldn’t mind trying asynchronous play some time (indeed I’ll add it to the list of games I’d be happy to mod - I’ll probably learn more that way than by playing again).

My clearance sale purchases from Noble Knight have arrived! Conquest of the Empire and War! Age of Imperialism (both by Eagle Games). On US Amazon right now, CotE by itself is listed at $245.79 (2 copies left), but both of these (shipping included) came to less than $130 total on clearance. Did I get a good deal? Probably. At least, that’s what I’ll tell myself anyway. :smirk:

I’m still waiting to grab the last 4 decks on sale. Though I’ve never been much interested in the deck construction.

I love MtG but had to get out of it for cost reasons, and while Ashes scratches a similar itch, I’ve never felt it hits the “wow” level MtG can. Due to the action restrictions, you can’t get those crazy combos. On the positive side, you can’t lose to those turn 1 combos either.

That said, I do the game and like some of the aspects that set it apart. The dice mechanic, the “first 5”, etc. Also, the art direction is (mostly) fantastic, which doesn’t hurt.

Right, I’m not buying any games (excluding expansions for current games) until Martin Wallace’s Anno 1800 and the reprint of Gingkopolis.

I’m kinda torn on this one. I threw a bid up on an auction but, after all was said and done, I’m not sure I got a good deal on it. Baseball Highlights 2045 landed. I was really impressed with Football Highlights 2052 and BH2045 has a much more established fanbase, so I wanted to check it out; not to mention that FH2052 is a straight-up drafting game but then you’re at the mercy of your deck and random draw. BH2045 seems to have a bit more agency in how the game plays out, but we’ll see. I just wish, for what I spent, it had come with some of the expansions because ultimately it’s only slightly cheaper than what I could have bought new.

Also arriving was Sprawlopolis (w/ expansions) and Hierarchy (w/ solo expansion) from an order I finally got around to placing with ButtonShy. I honestly didn’t expect it to ship so soon because I had also ordered Circle the Wagons (w/ expansions) that won’t be available until Aug at the earliest, but they went ahead and split the shipment (which I have mixed feelings about in general).

I haven’t played FH, but I do very much enjoy BH. (Got my copy by making a cash offer after it hadn’t gone in a maths trade.) It is kind of expensive for the physical stuff you get, though.

This is part of the reason I’ve been satisfied with the app. It’s a nice production but that going rate is a bit stiff.

Bought Citadels yesterday for a friend. It was his birthday on the weekend and we are getting together tomorrow, so after some debate and how my group of friends are entering the board game hype with me, I thought it would be a good entry point
