Last game you bought?

I’m going to be very jealous when it arrives before mine :stuck_out_tongue:

Picked up the new Ashes expansion pack while buying christmas presents for other people. This is the real danger of christmas shopping …

I bought wingspan from Magic Madhouse for £35. It feels like it’s approaching Ticket To Ride in terms of being a canon game so almost needs to be played now.

Picked up the fourth Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective box as a BF code meant a damaged copy was £27.

ohohoh… I got notification that my preorder of FCM is on the way
Zimbabwe can’t be far behind. So excited.

Other than that, I’ve been not-buying games.

edit: as I suspected the second notification came 2 hours later  yummy. now if only… but I don’t think DHL can beam the packages to me.

I saw they’d sold 1 million copies recently

Last I bought was Banana Katana which is a pretty sick pickup party game akin to Snake Oil/Funemployed

That one is GREAT fun. It was our intro to the SHCD series and it was wonderful.

I went into my FLGS today expecting to buy a puzzle, but I did my usual skim of the back wall (where the used games sit) and spied a complete copy of Hawaii for a nice price. Turns out it was the manager’s personal copy and he had just put it up.

This tends to come with some sticker shock any time I see it pop up used, so it was nice to grab it for a price that was in line with my desire factor. No rush to get it played, but I was guessing I didn’t have much time to waffle over picking it up, so home it came.

Bought Art Robbery because it’s a Knizia and it received good feedback from the Isleworth Club I go to, many are Knizia fans themselves.

Been eying Blood Bowl Team Manager w/Sudden Death expansion which has been in the used section of my FLGS this month, but for $70, I just could not do it.

So, of course, I bought it when I went in today as used games were marked 50% off.

Also bought Dune Imperium for $45 as a gift for our friends. Combined, they got me a $20 off of $60 coupon, good from 11/29 through the end of the year. Perfect for that after Christmas shopping!

I mentioned it over in the “Recently Played Games” thread, but I am quite impressed.

I really liked that it is a really narrative focused game. It’s all about the story, and in the great stories the heroes never die. That’s not to say they don’t get setbacks (and you do!), but “losing” a dice roll isn’t terrible. In fact, it often results in you being better than you started (which is a nice little thing). You’re almost always rewarded for trying, and I really like that.

Now, is it as good as Forgotten Waters? Or Arabian Nights? Hmmm. Different, for all three, and I think they will all sit happily in my collection for some time because I do love a good narrative game. But I do wish there were a couple tweaks to the mechanics because both me and my partner were carrying items that the other player really needed, but we didn’t know that the other player needed them… but they were really good items so we didn’t want to drop them! And that’s not a feel-good. Plus the race for new followers is frustrating, since one player “gaining” somebody as a follower is very nebulous (for example, the Bishop seems like he would become a follower for anyone who slayed the wolves, but he doesn’t! And that’s super frustrating because it was like a 4 turn arc to find that out, which is awful… same with the Romani woman who wants her crow back… no reason they shouldn’t become followers, but they don’t! Annoying!).

I would say I like it, and my partner likes it a little less than me, but I am curious enough to get it back on the table and see how the “campaign” shakes out.

I took home Cryo and 7 Wonders Architects this afternoon after a big trade. The former I’m quite excited about, while the latter was more of an excuse to finally try a game in the series. I’m aware there seem to be some gripes about the depth of Architects, but to be honest I’m pretty grossed out by the wall of expansions with the product line, so getting a fresh box felt less stressful.

To prevent me from saying the hell with it and devouring my offspring, my wife had me run to the FLGS to look around a bit and then get some drinks from 7-Eleven.

Nothing had changed since yesterday, so there was not much temptation. However, the 2004 edition of Maharaja was still on the used shelf, so for $7.50 it came home with me. Just about double the amount I paid at 7-Eleven.

I tried 7 Wonders Architects the other week, and I think it’s pretty good. Definitely lighter than regular 7 Wonders, but that’s not inherently a bad thing.

We’re dealing up a second game immediately after our first game. I knew it was lighter but wasn’t expecting Sushi Go lighter. Fast and fun! We don’t have many lightning quickies like this so it’s a nice add so far for sure.

[EDIT] Wrong thread for this edit, so, edited.
