Well. This has all the usual “dry Euro” warning flags for me, but I’ve played it (well, the original Kraftwagen) and rather to my surprise very much enjoyed it.

Well, that’s no good! I will have trouble finding enough to play a proper game too, I think, but as I am less interested in playing against live opponents, it won’t really matter for me. That said, I do know that the game is not really suited to solo play. I’ll do it anyway.

For some reason… Five Tribes is in stock for like normal-for-a-squarebox-game money I don’t even mind that postage is 10€… I’ve been looking for this game for a good while and all the used copies were going for 150-200€ here. There were rumors of a Polish reprint 2022 and suddenly there is stock? At a shop where I previously bought games. It is probably going to turn out to be a mistake someone made when entering new stock. But whatever… if there is a game to be had I WANT IT!

I’m either going for “in their assless chaps”, or else pointing out that all asses may be surplus to requirements, given the joined-at-the-chest nature of the characters.

Heul Doch was our game of the summer this year. Super quick and easy to teach and a lot of fun.

I’m interested to hear what you think of Great Plains. With the recent pedigree of the designers I figured it would get a decent amount of buzz, but I haven’t heard much of anything.

I’ll be sure to post proper first impressions once I get it played with my partner. On first blush though, I think there’s going to be a surprising amount to chew on. One thing I can say so far is that it’s lightning fast, which is awesome. I love a good filler-class game with enough meat to be the main event and I think this might be one.

Unless they improved the 2nd edition further I’ll presume you’re upgrading a first edition? I think you’ll appreciate the new finish. They held up to my Staedtler dry erase markers nicely, which are pretty pigment-dense.
