Thought it was FanBoy3?
Not on their website either though.

Nah, someone asked if it was FB3 and the OP corrected them.
From what I got: They have different tack. GGW got more diplomacy involved.
Personally, Im on CW. Screw diplomacy. I wanna smash
Are you green?
Only when heās angry
Considering how much i whine in this forum, Im always angry
We went to a consignment sale today, mostly to look for stuff for our kids, but there are often a couple of gems in the board games section to look for as well.
So dropped $150 total on all kinds of things, but just $10 or so for Seiko Lanaiās Mai-Star, Vladimir Suchyās League of Six, and Michael Schachtās China, the reimplementation of Web of Power, and later released as Han and Iwari.
Havenāt gone through them yet to verify everything is present for each game, but to get all three of them for approximately $10 feels like a steal.
Mercado de Lisboa arrived at the weekend. In amongst the games cull I also got offered a trade on BGG, so also expecting Alchemists and Little Town this week.
I did it.
Glorantha GW + Empires + Elder Races + Buildings for £195 (MSRP £393).
I feel terrible and great at the same time.
They had all the monsters and dragons too (wouldāve been ~Ā£55 more), but they looked a little crazy. Still, can always go back later.
If itās something youāve wanted, youāve got a decent deal.
Yeah, I had almost pulled the trigger a year ago, so it was definitely on the cards. If it was at price no way would I buy it, but at this price itās almost good value
Nice. Itās the ābought it cos itās cheapā that annoy me no end.
There was an extra 10% off an online store this weekend I simply couldnāt muster enough enthusiasm to buy anything.
Being on sale is the worst of all the reasons for buying a game that wasnāt already on my lists. At least those arenāt expensive mistakes. And by now I have learned that.
Seafall was on sale for ridiculously low prices before stock ran out. I was looking at some discussion of whether it was worth getting just because of how low the prices were. The wisdom from that thread was that at a low enough price the cost of a game stops being the money you spend on it and becomes the space and time you commit to it.
Yup, space and time are always the bigger concerns for me, though I am also very stingy on the money side too!
Iāve definitely made the āitās on sale so why notā mistake a more than once. Fortunately, Iāve been smart the last few times and only grabbed games Iāve had a genuine interest in.
My most recent ones were Cosmic Frog for a really solid price, and Blackout Hong Kong for $20 Canadian!! Both are on hold until I stock up for free shipping so neither will be hitting the table for awhile but Iām comfortable with both.
My best āon a whimā sale purchase was Nanty Narking. Had a passing interest in the game but couldnāt justify the almost $100 price tag, but grabbed it for about $50 and Iām glad I did. Itās been a blast everytime we play it. Not an everyday game, but solid fun when it comes out.
Donāt look at my last post then!
I have gotten better about such things. I have certainly purchased games before simply because they are cheap. In this last instance, itās because I know/have heard good things of the designers (in the case of Mai-Star and League of Six) or have heard good things about the game (China).
Iāve certainly found myself looking at my boardgameprices scraper and thinking āyeah, thatās the lowest itās ever been⦠and I still donāt really feel like buying it⦠maybe I should just take it off the listā.
Broom Service has been at 10⬠forever at Spiele Offensive. I donāt know why. It even won Spiel des Jahres. And I know some people here like it. But it would never even have made it close to my lists if not for that price. But every time I order from them I am tempted to just add it⦠so far I have resisted.
That said, the Oink Games Modern Art is Ā£22.50 on Amazon UK right now. German edition, but the rules in English are freely available and thereās no relevant in-game text. The small box compared with CMONās version tips me over the edge; I believe the term is āyoinkā. And while Iām at it, Tobago: Volcano for a smidge over Ā£15.
(I like the idea of Modern Art as a PBF, but I think it would need people awake in the same time zones.)
