Good to hear that!
I think we need a menu - some of those mains look good tho I have no idea what they are
I posted the menu already before, but no problem!
I think with the menu the main dishes are easier.
The pies are in order of the images:
Coconut cream pie
Spiced pumpkin tart
Pear and cranberry pie
If you want a recipe or have more questions, I am sure I can help
Rough, emotional couple of days. One year ago today, we had to say good-bye to this little guy:
That’s him on his 15th birthday, 21 October 2020. His name was Lucky and he was our son. And we miss him everyday.
Yesterday, we played Pandemic with him. Beat the game three times in his honour. We also cried a lot. Today, we got up early to see the sun rise. Rituals are important, and that seems a worthwhile one. Life. It goes on.
I can’t see too well right now. Got tears in my eyes. Hard to type. I love you son and I miss you.
Sorry for your loss. Bless him, he looks adorable.
Thank you very much.
He was playful and loving right up to the end. He was a fantastic companion.
Today I have to attend a “project increment planning meeting” in person, which involves spending all day in a room with ~40 people talking about work. One of the measures being taken to make the event less Covid risky is to keep all of the doors and windows open. I will be wearing many layers
The management team won’t mandate face masks except when walking around the room (i.e. when not sitting close to someone and talking to them) because people have been complaining about being asked to wear them in the office
. We actually had a poll the other day on whether to stop requiring masks in the office altogether, which is the first time I’ve been asked to vote on a health and safety measure… I’ve also seen our H&S person wandering around the office many times with a mask held a few centimetres from their face, be as if that would help, so not feeling very confident right now!
PayPal has restricted my account and I find this both frustrating and hilarious. They have restricted my account because I sent a payment with a note that it was for “Ducks Letters to Santa Co-op” and they want to know what I meant by “Santa Co-op” and what exactly I purchased.
I collect Disney pins. Disney recently released a set of 5 pins of various characters with their Letters to Santa for the year. I wanted one of those pins (Donald Duck and his 3 nephews) so went in on a group or cooperative purchase of the 5 pin set to get just the one pin and had to send payment to the person who actually bought the set. I have to explain all this to an unknown entity in PayPal’s “resolution” department.
Meanwhile, I want to know what nefarious activities PayPal was envisioning behind “Santa co-op.”
They probably have regulatory requirements for not-for-profits and they have to ensure they are not violating any mandates (such as charging fees for a not-for-profit donation, in many juridictions)
That’s an interesting possibility I hadn’t considered.
I love Disney pins. The kids never got into swapping them though because they just bought ones they liked.
Still haven’t been back into the office since we were allowed to in September. This morning I got invited to an on-site meeting with 15 other people in a meeting room I know is going to be cramped with that number.
No provision has been made for people to dial in. So much for our “hybrid working” approach. Think I’ll be giving it a miss even though I’ve been invited for my expert opinion.
Each night we have to make a note of the kids reading and whether we read to them or if they read by themselves. This is favourite note I’ve ever had to make.
Maximum respect
For reference, the mirror demon killed him.
A favourite point was when our daughter started reading to her little brother. She designs and runs RPGs these days. YMMV
Please don’t get my hopes that high!
I’ve had a fairly apathetic couple of weeks and found motivation to work a real struggle. Thankfully I’ve had lots of gaming to keep my spirits up - one of the nice things is having those regular social events that I know are coming up, and I always find it easier to actually do something when I’ve made some commitment to other people. I’m enjoying my first real attempt at PBF too (and it’s a nice cheeky break from work!).
I should get back to the Christmas cards. How do they take so long?
Just got home to find my fiancé had set up a candle lit table before serving up a delicious Caribbean fish and dumplings. She even went as far as to ask questions while I prattled on about work
A lovely surprise from my favourite person.
Gosh, what 3 days… 2 days at home with my daughter sick with a sore throat… Can she be demanding?? Argghh!. I was even glad to return to work today. Even with the pile of paperwork and samples that needed running, and the gazillion emails…
At least we got to play some games while she was off.
