It’s been on my “must have” list ever since the SUSD review.
Now that it’s coming around again with a fresh (fur) coat of paint, I’ll have to re-evaluate to see if I still need it in my collection

What does “reimagined” mean, I wonder?
Flowers instead of samurai.
This is making a race for Puerto Rico esque ring with pollen.
Edit:
Uuuggg. I’ve been waiting for another reprint of Samurai. I have the first edition which was ding & dent when I bought it (from Funagain, RIP) and has taken on a lot of love since then.
I’m not inherently opposed to this theme but it feels very not Samurai. For whatever reason, Pollen was fine (and the compact table presence was nice) but this is not.
And then I saw Keymaster and I’m still a little skittish from the hostile ousting of Mr. Key and whatever happened between them and 59 Parks. It’s all been pretty hush hush but what I was able to read just sounded dirty. I’m not ready to touch anything from Keymaster yet.
I don’t know what the new theme really is. BGG explains this much:
Hanami or “flower viewing” is a celebration of springtime in Japan, when people from all over flock to parks and gardens to view the beautiful sakura blossoms.
How that ties into the established gameplay, and what it all means thematically, is unclear to me.
Cherry blossom art sells, I think that’s all there is to it.
Whatever I read explained that we are families vying for picnic real estate. The tiles are picnic blankets with the strength of the picnicking? And each family has different priorities of food, flowers, or fireworks.
But basically we are fighting over picnic spots.
And living in DC for 20 years with the cherry blossom festival I can tell you the struggle is REAL.
And at the end of the game, the flowers, food, and fireworks each vote for their favourite rampant picnicker, and whichever of those picnickers has the most support from the other two sources of entertainment wins at picnics?
Yes. Uh, wait, no… er, look! Pretty cherry blossoms!
I guess it’ll be more along the lines of: Whichever family has enjoyed the most of one entertainment, whilst also enjoying more of the remaining two entertainments compared with competing picnickers, is considered to have had the Best Day out of everyone.
I’m still a bit confused by exactly what the strength of the tiles represents, and quite why everyone is picnicking in so many different locations, but I’m sure it’ll all become clear in due course.

Possibly a stand alone expansion for A Feast for Odin or maybe a spin off? Betting on the former
Standalone expansion. There’s been a BGG forum thread on it of the designer talking through ideas for years, starting back when it was just an expansion.
