Just saw that a hero pack for Gambit has been announced for Marvel Champions! That’s a day 1 buy for me!

The cards they’ve shown look like he’ll be a lot of fun to play. Just gotta wait until February…

I feel like those cards are going to need to be sleeved, otherwise they’ll get bent out of shape as they are spun across the room.

I am rather disappointed that there’s no mechanic for actually throwing the cards at the villain.

While checking which Ashes decks I’m missing, I discovered this is on the way: Ashes Reborn: Red Rains – The Corpse of Viros | Board Game | BoardGameGeek

Solitaire/co-op definitely sounds like it might give me the opportunity to play it more often!

I’ve been thinking about bodging together a system for an Aeon’s End nemesis vs Ashes mages, but this will work much better.

As I do—or at least I do for the past 2 years—I made a geeklist about the games I am excited about for next year. For the most part I preorder such games… so in some ways this is a list of my preorders oO:

And yes yes Frosthaven is #1 but mostly because it was originally going to be here in 2022 and is not. The order of games is somewhat on purpose but not by excitement level. :wink:

Dec 2022 + 2023 List:

  • War of the Ring: Card Game - this might be a December release, but you know how these things work
  • Aegean Sea - Card Chudyk game
  • Sol: Last Days of the Star - December KS campaign
  • Horseless Carraige - Splotter game. Already preordered
  • Galaxy Cat Extension - a cat-themed Knizia game
  • Tatsu - a re-implementaion of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde trick taking game from 1997
  • Doppelkopf 2.0 - not sure where I can get this tbh.
  • Votes for Women - same people who did Shores of Tripoli. I didn’t playtest this one but I am still keen

Maaaaybe

  • Organism - Now that they decoupled it from the Sol reprint: maaaaybe. I wanna see how it works first
  • Rise & Fall - I like Archipelago despite its fragility (rather, I like it because it is fragile), but not enough for me to back this

Doppelkopf 2.0 sounds like something that my dad would love. He used to have a regular meet-up to play Doppelkopf for a whole evening–in the dining room right below my room. It was getting loud every time. Good excuse to spend the night reading instead of going to sleep :wink:

Why do all the really weird Knizia games have wriggly letters on them that I cannot read? I think I have seen images of this before.

Still waiting for Ahoy, but this is gonna be a “Want to Play” now.

Ohohohohoho! They release a Portuguese edition called Cine Pipoca which comes in a 20 cm x 20 cm x 4 cm box.

Additionals:

  • War of the Ring: Kings of Middle Earth expansion - we tried the Lords of Middle Earth expansion and it was pretty cool. Hopefully, this one doesn’t add more and more rules.
  • Terra Nova
  • 18 India - the only 18xx I’m anticipating this year. Tom Lehmann’s 1833NE still can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel and Mike Hutton’s new thing is still not done. I am keen to see The Old Prince getting a publisher
  • EDIT: I did preordered 18SJ and 18GB from All Aboard, and will arrive mid-2023
  • Ascending Empires: Zenith Edition - 4x flicking game
  • Nature - a rehaul of Evolution/Evolution: Climate - would add Oceans here too once I have the time to look on the lower part of this list.

Hey, I’ve got Haggis - is it any good? I only found it because I bought some storage boxes and was looking at smaller games to put in them
