Are there icicles like that above the door too?, I think I’d be afraid to go outside without a hard hat!
No, just the rear eavestroughs. Not sure why, honestly.
The big danger in the front is the solar panels: when it gers warmer, sometimes full sheets of snow and ice will slide off the roof. Doesn’t happen often though.
It continues to snow.
Interesting note: we have solar panels that earn an average $250 to $350 a month ($100-ish in the winter, $600-ish in the summer).
Last 30 days we earned -$4.40. Minus 4 bucks. We earned so little that it didn’t cover the $5/month admin fee.
Is that at the observatory?
The “Old Royal Naval College - Painted Hall” which I hadn’t been to before. Down the hill from the Observatory, about 10 mins away.
That looks like it should be the same size as the Sun but someone read the measurements wrong so they’ve made the best of it!
I’m guessing its supposed to show the relative size to the Sun?
“I think the problem may have been that there was a planet Earth on the stage that was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf.”
Yes, it’s size relative to the Sun model (but importantly not distance, just size).
Typical English beach weather today:
The pointy building is the North Sea Observatory in Lincolnshire. You can probably guess which sea is in the picture…
I’ve never understood why the North Sea observatory was on the med.
The Med is north of the Arabian Sea. Maybe thats it.
That’s cute ![]()

Some scenery from the first 30 miles of the Hadrian’s Wall trail. Notably absent: the actual wall… I understand that it’s more visible in the middle section.
Could also have got some photos of the nice architecture in Carlisle, but by that point I just wanted a sit down and a drink!
Those clever Romans, using invisible bricks…
The idea was to taunt the enemy into charging very quickly at the Roman forces…
I don’t know what we’ve done to piss off this raven but it now follows us to the pub and when we take our dog a walk and repeatedly dive bombs us, and now it’s found our bedroom and is rapping on the window, as of someone softly tapping at our chamber door. It’s probably quothing nevermore all bloody night, but thankfully we’re double glazed so we can’t hear it.
