Reportedly most do in a blind taste test.
Most people have no taste.
To each his own . . .
I prefer Pepsi but I can swing both ways.
I liked Coke because it had a slight bitter undertaste that made its flavor interesting. Pepsi lacked that, and I found it too sweet to be enjoyable. Coke Zero managed to capture the bitterness; when they changed over to Coca-Cola Zero Sugar they lost that, and I couldn’t stand to drink the new version. Instead I changed back to Diet Dr. Pepper. Then I gave up on caffeinated soda entirely, for reasons other than flavor . . .
I miss original Irn-Bru.
But that’s such a local complaint that it does bring the topic back to Where on Earth
I have only ever drunk zero calorie sodas and I realise that means all taste comparisons are off. Plus I am sure they vary tastes over time and geographies.
One my favourite memories of my first trip to Edinburgh was the total lack of anything but Iron Bru and Coca Cola in the newsagents’ fridges
Scotland was the only place in the world where Coca-cola wasn’t number one!
Amazing stuff, Irn-Bru. You know if something is a hangover cure IN SCOTLAND it’s got entirely too much caffeine and sugar in it.
I stayed at a premier inn in Scotland in the before times. They had complimentary Irn Bru and Shortbread.
The pepsi challange of the 80s exploited the tendency of people to prefer a sweeter beverage, when they have a small taste. When they have to drink a larger volume, other characteristics of flavor become more important.
(Without having done any research) this is why most name brand peanut butter now has sugar added: the results of “taste tests”
C and I have lost our taste for peanut butter; we’re now habituated to almond or cashew butter. But back when we still ate peanut better, we sought out brands that didn’t add sugar (there were one or two), or straight ground peanuts; the added sweetness just seemed a little repulsive.
Hence my use of the word ‘reportedly’ I’d expect a Pepsi sponsored (again, my assumption) taste test would favour Pepsi
I did one at home with my wife, inlaws (mother, father, brother and sister) and 2 friends. It was pretty mixed. We had people who preferred the ‘full-fat’ version of one brand but the diet version of another and vice versa. Thats pretty much where I am - I prefer full fat pepsi but diet coke. And I like that Pepsi comes in bigger bottles for the same price
(Full disclosure - I used to work for Pepsi. The main benefit of which was REALLY cheap Doritos.Go figure.)
Most peanut butter from Big Peanut has hydrogenated oils added which help keep the peanut oil from separating, as well as sugar (or HFCS). Some of them get the better living through chemistry treatment, to further reduce separation.
Proper peanut butter has two ingredients: freshly roasted peanuts and salt. Ideally, the peanuts are still warm from being roasted when they are ground up.
This is something Big Peanut gets right, too bad about the added crap. Lots of small brand peanut butter is made from stale peanuts; this is why the stuff from the ‘grind your own’ is not good (inadequate cleaning probably doesn’t help, either).
I buy kilo tubs of peanut butter and it’s 100% peanut. It does have a tendency to separate over time, but it’s a good workout mixing it all back up.
I happened to have four in the cupboard just before lockdown started.
So. Yesterday was the first snow of the season. The day before was sunny and 80 some degrees (measured in Freedom Units). I’m not keen. Can we just stick with summer from now on?
And yeah, the snows already melted, but I felt weird without a picture.
