What are you watching?

Watched the first two episodes of Star Wars: Visions last night, The Duel and Tattooine Rhapsody. Duel was fantastic, while TR was simply cute. Will get through the rest of the episodes in time.

Community is in our top 5 comedy shows. Such a brilliant show (after a slow start).

Just watched the first episode of Inside Job. That was great!

Watching Humans, which is another take on the androids-who-can-be-confused-for-humans story, but in an everyday British setting, and I’m finding it much more compelling than Westworld ever was.

What platform is it in? I always wanted to check it, but it’s been a while since I can use BBC iPlayer…

Amazon Prime (Japan) - the only service we have a subscription to, and the only reason I noticed it at all. Amusingly listed under ā€œAmerican TV dramaā€.

I will check if it is in the NZ one, I have not used it much since we watched Nine Perfect Strangers

Might be worth checking Netflix as well, as it’s available there here in the UK.

Also, it’s Channel 4 rather than BBC. I don’t know if that’s available outside the UK. Humans - All 4

We watched Humans for some seasons and enjoyed it.

Memory failed me there, I confused the channels, it’s been a while…

Apparently it’s a remake of a Swedish original, but I only know the UK one. It has the advantage that Katherine Parkinson does the everywoman part so well.

Went to see Eternals last Saturday afternoon. I really enjoyed it more than I expected. It kind of cheats on my Marvel list (I am still way behind on the Marvel Universe, roughly I still need to see from Civil War and Thor 2 onwards) and I would have spoiled myself the Infinity War ending (thanks Facebook and the internet in general).

I think it was good to see some new heroes, as I was not very into this line of comics, and to see the Canaries again on film (Fuerteventura, baby). I had heard Marvel was filming there a couple of years ago or so, and this must be it. Definitely recommended.

Oh, and there’s not one but two extra scenes at the end. One halfway through the credits, and another at the very end.

Thor 3 (Ragnarok) and the two Guardians of the Galaxy movies are the best of the lot, IMO, and well worth watching even if you don’t follow the whole MCU.

Ooh, respectfully disagree about the Guardians. Bottom-tier MCU films. But, obviously, YMMV, and they’re still Marvel films so worth watching. I don’t think any of the MCU are actively bad films, as long as you know what to expect going in (ie: big flashy fight at the end, no consequences that last more than a movie or two, and so on).

Loved Ragnarok, though.

I’ve seen both Guardians movies, and the first is probably one of my favourites if not my favourite Marvel Universe movie. I so want to see Ragnarok, but I am yet to see Thor 2, hence the delay…

Also, I forgot to mention, watched The Gentlemen on Netflix, which I had seen on the cinema just before the pandemic. It has been the movie from Guy Ritchie I have enjoyed more since Rockanrolla came out.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy is also my favourite MCU film, closely followed by Thor, Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther (although not necessarily in that order).

I’m almost up to date. I haven’t seen Spider-Man: Far From Home, Shang-Chi or The Eternals yet.

On a separate but it’s still Disney note, I’ve been watching The Owl House to unwind in the evenings. If you like silly cartoons I can highly recommend it.

Oooh, Black Panther is another one pending for me, and the second half of Dr. Strange (plane landed half way, would you believe??)

I was on a flight which landed just before the big reveal at the ending of The Prestige. Luckily, I had already seen the movie, but I felt bad for passengers who hadn’t.

Oh, this was my own (and my children’s) fault for starting to watch it too late. Basically, the little one took too long to fall asleep on the way to Bangkok, and I think I started it past the Himalayas…

I watched the first two episodes of Arcane, a new anime on Netflix. It is based on Runeterra, the world of League of Legends. So I thought it is some fanservice show or so but I am really surprised how well done it is. It is playing in a steampunk world, a promising setting.

Very curious how it will continue on.
