The Peripheral: regardless of how faithful it was to the book (I believe they changed a bit for tv) it was rock solid as a show. There is a scene on a bridge that is SO TENSE you will not unclench your jaw for 5 minutes straight. Amazing cast, too.

For those who love Michelle Yeoh, I would like to recommend The Brotherās Sun on Netflix. Yes, sheās the mother, but she steals every scene, and sheās a pivotal character whose role goes against type. So recommended, go watch it.
Also, we watched The Rig on Amazon with new added bonus of annoying adverts, which fortunately didnāt spoil our enjoyment of the show. Might interest those who like hints of ancient horrors.

After recently watching Viggo Mortensen in A History of Violence ā perhaps the least David Cronenberg David Cronenberg film ā today I watched Viggo Mortensen in Crimes of the Future ā perhaps the most David Cronenberg David Cronenberg film.
(I see that the two also collaborated on Eastern Promises and A Dangerous Method, neither of which Iām familiar with. Comments on those, anyone?)

I followed that up with Official Competition, which was a very funny film about a film. I have vague recollections of reading that people who were actually in the film biz were going to find this even funnier, and I can certainly imagine various bits of the madness maybe being a little too real :).
We continue on with the weekly episode of Masters of Air on Apple TV and it is okay. Not coming close to Band of Brothers regarding the quality but good enough to watch 1 episode a week. The weekly release and knowing it isnāt too long makes us continue on.
We also started Blue Eye Samurai (3-4 episodes in). Took some convincing, my wife was very skeptical but we enjoy it. I mean you have to turn off all logic (especially travel times for people and messages) but it is more about themes anyways I would say.

Totally recommended. Viggo was nominated for his performance to and Oscar, and with reason, according to my partner, his Russian manerisms and accent are the best sheās seen, even better than Tom Hanks on The Terminal.
The movie is about Russian mobsters in London.

We saw Dune 2 at the cinema this weekend, and it was solidly ok. Iām really much less inclined to read the books after seeing it, anyone want to convince me otherwise?

I read and loved the book and having also just seen Dune part 2 (and loving it) I reckon youāre all good.

I thought the movie was an awesome cinema experience and probably amazing on IMAX.
As a faithful retelling of the book itāsā¦ 4/10 at best. Book is much better and worth your time.

Been watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which I originally thought was similar to Reno 911!, which I had seen a bit of and it didnāt do anything for me. Happy to say I was mistaken, and I am greatly enjoying B99.

Watched Dune 2 this weekend. Positively impressed, as the way the previous movie had ended it was a bit of an anticlimactic moment. It is tricky to say where can you split the story better, maybe with Paul and Lady Jessica crashing in the middle of the dessert? I think the ending of part 2 would have been a better start for part 2 than ending for part 1, but that is just me being picky.
I really enjoyed the visuals, and I was very impressed with how much more gravitas Javier Bardem as Stilgar had on this movie, as I thought his role in Dune Part 1 was a bit of a minor let down. I think the scene in Giedi Prime with the Harkonnenās original world were really good and very well shot.
Also this weekend I have started watching The Gentlemen series, from Guy Ritchie. Follows the premise of the movie, where drugs are grown underground as an extra income for the struggling noble houses on the English countryside, and so far I have seen 4 or 5 episodes that have been very enjoyable.
