As I’ve been thinking about supernovas these have been in the rotation:
For some reason I think a lot of you will enjoy this, it’s a classic and that video is so so British…
A brief jaunt through my (so-called) brain:
Somebody I know posted a list of songs he listens to when writing. The third on the list was this:
Which I thought was neat!.. and it reminded me of something. Hmm, what was it? Oh yeah! It reminds me of my favourite version of “Starships” by Nikki Minaj… this one!
And THAT reminds me of my favourite thing about the Pitch Perfect movies (which I have never actually watched, just listened to absolutely every song, because I love the heck outta the riff offs, like this one!)
Man, Anna Kendrick. She’s amazing… that reminds me about that medley I really like… which one… oh, Peter Hollens, isn’t it? It is!
Which reminds me of that incredibly chilling version of the Hanging Tree he did, but that song is way too depressing to listen to right now… but you know what isn’t depressing? That woman who plays violin with Peter Hollens sometimes… what was her western-themed song called?
Right! That. Great tune. Which reminds me of that song on…
(Continue ad infinitum)
You should fix that. Though the third is kinda skippable.
That was AMAZING
Okay, that was a fun video. I love starships… helps that I have seen each of those movies/shows except:
- Cocoon
- Sunshine
- Virtuality
Marx: do yourself a favour and go watch Sunshine this weekend. It’s an excellent film.
Were that I had the time. Is it available through one of the usual channels (Netflix, Disney+)? Otherwise it’s definitely not happening.
I watched “Moon” a few months back (I think that’s the one, with the one guy, Sam-something, stuck on the moon for a mining mission of a certain length that’s about to end?). I was unimpressed. I mean, it was fine, but too “thoughtful-sci-fi” for my tastes. I am definitely more of the Star Wars/New Star Trek sci-fi vein. But I don’t think I have watched a full movie since March… still, I suppose I will have some time off after the 25th. Maybe then. If you think it’s worthy of viewing I’ll give it a stab (if I can find it, natch).
Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion confirmed as the perfect candidate for that tricky to fill niche of “game to play while you do backing vocals on an Anthrax cover”.
I’ve come back to this several times over the last few days… Even though I have criticisms for both the performance and the song writing… it’s still a brilliant aural space opera.
Me too, it’s my new favourite thing
Currently working through NSP’s back catalogue. Their recent stuff is hilarious.
For those curious, this is where I found the Starlight Brigade song initially. I’ve been slowly working my way through the list. Some of them are pretty catchy… whoever made it seems to have tastes that are pretty close to mine (at least in the first 10 songs).
I don’t do a lot of carols (and my thoughts on Christmas Music are impolite) but I do rather love this, by Annie Lennox in 2010:
So am going to just leave this here… Roger Glover (Feat. Ronnie James Dio) - Love Is All (The Butterfly Ball) (1974) - YouTube
Ooh. (Goes off to add to music collection.)
