What are you spinning?

As expected the band played extremely well. Great sound. Just not what I wanted from the concert. They played very little from the last 3 albums probably because their new singer doesn’t have the range. Oh well, it was great while it lasted.

I also saw a form of crowd surfing for the first time where on top of a guy bring carried a woman is standing… wtf? See picture above and it happened multiple times.

Now that really is surfing! A human surf board. Love it. Get a few of those, and integrate the Mexican Wave for the rest of the crowd, and the wide angle videos would be amazing!

If you’re at a German metal festival, I hope Electric Callboy are on the bill

next year they will be at this one. but I’m not sure we will be. the heat is almost unbearable this year and looks off people leaving early. we’ll leave tonight at the latest if we make it that long before deciding Soulfly isn’t worth it… anyhow i am starting to feel like I’m really too old for this. can’t even properly drink beer all day… seeking shade and trying to cool down somehow

this year’s big ones are Helloween, Arch Enemy Eisbrecher, Amorphis, Testament, Lamb of God, Saxon, Alestorm, In Flames, Soulfly, Airbourne, Versengold, a surprise show by Saltatio Mortis (from my hometown), Paradise Lost… two big stages and 2 small ones and four days makes for a lot of bands

Next year will be 30 years for this particular festival.

Some bands already announced

SUMMER BREEZE LEGENDS & ORCHESTRA, ELECTRIC CALLBOY, EDGUY, SALTATIO MORTIS, CHILDREN OF BODOM, HAMMERFALL, HALESTORM, WIND ROSE, LORD OF THE LOST, ELUVEITIE, H-BLOCKX, SWISS + DIE ANDERN, CLAWFINGER, KATAKLYSM, MONO INC., WARKINGS, DARK FUNERAL, GLORYHAMMER, FINNTROLL, ATREYU, SHADOW OF INTENT, EMIL BULLS, EQUILIBRIUM, JOHN BUSH Celebrating The Songs Of Anthrax 1993 – 2003, THE BROWNING, GAEREA, LONG DISTANCE CALLING, MAKE THEM SUFFER, MITTEL ALTA, ANY GIVEN DAY, GUTALAX, INSOMNIUM, COMBICHRIS

I wasn’t there, because Canada, but I’ve seen Amorphis (twice) Saxon (opening for Judas Priest) and Helloween (last year, they killed it) and they are in my top shows I’ve ever attended. Top quality there.

Next year looks damn solid too. I remember seeing a double-bill of HammerFall and Edguy some 20 years ago, that was great fun. I know HF haven’t lost a step live, I wonder how Edguy looks on their farewell tour… Underrated band, that.
