My kids are having a mini Queen phase as they are doing some songs in their musical dance classes. I am not unhappy about this.
In a fit of old-time listening, I got a CD delivered through the post today of that album, and have put it on to play like it was still 2000.
Been enjoying a lot of Gaslight Anthem’s new album. Really love the sort of haunting melody of this track:
How is it? I’ve got Stockholm syndrome with Taylor Swift after my kids paid it SO GODDAMN much in the car!
Only listened for 1 day so cant say much. It takes me a while to really feel an album.
It’s over an hour of Taylor moaning about her ex and lost love and it’s really well executed, with many lovely Taylor turns of phrase expressing every miniscule emotion. If you’re looking for something light and breezy, this isn’t it.
I was so confused. I thought there was a band named The Tortured Poets Department (which sounded like a great band name).
Vinyl that looks like a floppy disk, double-retro.
This is a combination of two photos since it’s just a single record. Would have been easier using a tripod rather than a chair and some yoga blocks.
Bonus points to them if the first track sounded something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dub4nraPLlQ
Ah, that’s excellent! :).
Maaaaan! Part 1 of the album is solid. Up there with Red and 1989. Potentially, higher. Most of the songs are very good, with The Alchemy as my fave. I’ll listen some more and see if the highs go down.
Part 2 of the Anthology sounds like her songs from her draft folder and she’s like “fuck it” and released them anyway. But I’d like to listen more
Ok, this is driving me mad. I’ve got the new OU album in the playlist I currently have on repeat and the piano opening of this track reminds me of something.
I swear it’s like some '90s TV ident or something …
Best movie soundtracks - I mostly mean orchestral ones but happy to hear other recommendations. Favourites are Gladiator, Band of Brothers and obvs Lord of the Rings.
Go!
I have always enjoyed the Braveheart soundtrack.
