Voting for the Pearple's Choice Awards 2019-2020

(If you’re seeing this as a banner, click here for more.)

You are invited to vote for the Pearple’s Choice Awards 2019-2020!

You do not need to have nominated in order to vote. Sadly, the poll functions of this board can’t cope with preference voting, so instead please send me a PM. For each category, put the things you want to vote for in descending order, as it might be:

best pear award
game A
game Q
no award
game T

All the first-place votes are counted first. If there isn’t a clear majority, whatever got least votes is eliminated, and those ballots’ second-choice votes are distributed among the remaining candidates. This continues until there is a clear majority.

Voting ends at 2021-01-11T09:00:00Z.

Man, I’ve played like two things on this entire list.

Played 11. Own 11. But not the same 11. I don’t think I am doing this properly.

Sorry, @Roger, if you don’t want to vote for any of the games, you just vote for No Award on that category?

I’m not Roger, but I believe that No Award is traditionally “I don’t believe any of the nominees should win this award.” As opposed to what I did, which was abstain on most categories because I’ve played none of the games nominated and have no real opinion on which deserves it.

Yeah, I abstained completely a lot. No Award seems like an aggressive voting option!

malkav11 and Benkyo have it.

A, B, No Award, C informally means “I think A is the best option, and failing that B. If neither of those two wins, I think you shouldn’t give an award at all. But if you do, I’d rather see C get it than any of the others”.

Whereas A, B means “I think A is the best option, and failing that B. If neither of those two wins, I don’t care where it goes.”

And No Award on its own means “I don’t think any of these is deserving of an award”.

If you get to the point that you don’t have a preference among the remaining alternatives, that’s where you should stop listing entries. If that means you list nothing for that category, that’s not a problem; you’ve abstained.

Oops, OK, I put No Award on a category for my vote where I had no clue about any of the games, could you swap it for a blank?

Cheers.

Not a problem at all.

I put together a playlist of all the nominees for Best Game Review So people can easily watch all the Videos before voting.

Votes are still welcome!

I realise it’s a long ballot, but you don’t have to vote for every category, and you can delete everything you don’t care about – just put the remainder in order and that’s it.

I hope I can play 1 or 2 of the nominees this week, so I will likely vote the next week.
One question tough, is Love Letter in best abstract strategy game a new version or a typo? I lost my sense for time in 2020 but the original Love Letter is pretty old.

It got an updated release recently.

ah, didn’t know that, thanks

I promise this is the last time I will mention this… because voting closes in about 15 hours, at 2021-01-11T09:00:00Z. But I will count every vote I receive before then.
