First Officer Grope says “I told you sooooooooooaaaiiiieee”. (Or screams to that effect.)

That’s a D1, for a moral victory. Phew!

*Commander Grope limps to the viewscreen, and watches as ex-Commander Bulbous is ejected from the fore airlock for ‘vacuum re-education’. He turns and sighs. The muffled sounds of singing from the brig are interrupted by a pinging noise of another message arriving. More reports from Earth, most likely.

How, he wonders, can a few bloody songs be ‘inspirational’? He cracks his knuckles, and thinks about how a few Pilgrims inflicted the first damage on a First Citizen ship in living memory, and wonders how one of the bloody ones managed to transmit the images to a rebel station below.

He moves to scratch his crotch, then stops, remembering, and sighs again. All in all, it’s been a bit of a bad day.

Really enjoyed that, Roger! I knew it was a teeny risk, but I hadn’t missed a bloody shot until that one! Cocks. I should have taken the longer route home but I was overconfident.

Seriously, anyone else is free to join!

If we have no luck with recruitment, are you game for more, Roger?

Surely, though probably not tonight.

Have a think about what to play next

Fancy any more, Roger?

Yeah, let’s. (Long weekend visiting Bawdsey Radar and Martlesham Heath.)

We’ve done several short games - want to try something medium-length? Retribution, perhaps?

Which is my way of saying ‘Yes, sounds good’ but getting my phone extracted from me by a four-year old whilst typing.

“hotsprings anger” to you too. Not to mention “cancer cancer place_of_worship”.

Shall I take the Enforcers for the first run?

In which case I’m putting the corsairs Orthodoxy and Inflexibility round Io and Ganymede, and the frigate Pragmatism at base D on Luna.

As I see it, stage 1 of the game is you launching one of your ten corvettes at a time, and me trying to shoot them down; you can declare stage 2 whenever you like.

Hi Roger,

I don’t have the map here except what you’ve posted - which bases are my options for launching from? (I can’t use Luna, Ceres or Terra).

N

Here’s the full map - the dots next to planets are bases.

So as I see it your launch options are:

  • Mercury (A or D)
  • Venus (any)
  • Mars (any)
  • Callisto (any)
  • Ganymede (B)
  • Io (D)

Roger asked if I might like a bash at this, and I might, especially if there is another simple movement test for dur-brains at some point. In the meantime I’ll try and follow what goes on in this scenario.

Well, we haven’t actually started this one if you want to try again with a new one? I’m happy to start another scenario if you like, what do you think, Roger?

No - I think I should either at least try to follow a playthrough, or bash through movement for myself, so go ahead.

I’ll fire up another thread for a practice game - not tonight as I’m in Cambridge.

Okay, here goes: the corvette Hope is launching from Venus at D.
