@Sagantine asked for a die roll:
Ssora would like to make a perception roll to detect any movement/people that she might be able to see from here.

“Honestly, it looks dead empty now… Though the attackers could still be hiding inside somewhere. That guard tower looks like a good place to stay out of sight, for example.”

“Well, let’s take a look and see what more we can learn.” Ash looks ready to start moving forwards out of cover.

Enfys joins the others in moving towards the guard tower that Ssora has suggested

Out of interest, how do you move?

Stealthily??

@RossM asked for a die roll:
Ignore this…

Base +1+3 (H) - 5 (TOD) -1 (S??)

3d20: 6 + 14 + 13 = 33

You are about half way up the hill, when you hear an excitable squeak.

A creature, about 2/3 height of a man jumps from the tower and scurries out of sight.

It is bipedal, covered in black scales, and has a long black tail. It’s face is narrow and it’s teeth are visibly sharp.

“Hail! Do you speak… oh, never mind.”

Reaching the open gates, the interior of the fort is unimpressive.

The inside of the walls show signs of rot and the walkway around the palisade is full of holes. The guard tower is little more than a platform with a ladder attached.

…and that’s it.

There is nothing else inside the encampment other than a big hold in the ground…

A pit? A tunnel entrance? “You don’t build a defence unless you have to defend something… ow.” He steps back from the gates. “Is there something bad in the air?”

For reference, a map of the inside of the fort…

So that’s a hole that’s maybe two people wide, pretty much a vertical shaft, going by our initial glimpse of it?

Yep! That’s a fair interpretation.

Ash: “I don’t know about you two, but I don’t feel right inside this fort. Bad air from that pit perhaps?” (Does it pass off if I step back outside the area? If it has a sharp boundary, that smells like something magical.)

Does Ssora notice this effect?

@RogerBW there seems to be no edge to it, but the headache is worse inside.

@Sagantine you feel fine.

Does Enfys notice the air?

Enfys asks the other two, “what do you want to do, shall we split up to look around?”

@Sagantine asked for a die roll:
“Nothing seems amiss to me? Seems like a normal pit-in-a-fort. I’d like to at least peek over the edge.” Ssora moves towards the pit cautiously.

Looking for anything untoward (perception):
