The West Marches - Main Thread

Ash tries to shine his breastplate-light down them.

Each shaft is about the width of a bucket with smooth sides, the fast flowing water is approximately 30ft down.

Ssora is interested in this mysterious captive. She goes over and offers some jerky.
“Hungry? Who are you?”

Sister Blian steps out of the cage and takes the jerky with a bow of thanks.

Aside from the boots, she is not your typical dwarf. She wears long flowing wraps of emerald cloth, offsetting her long orange hair perfectly. Her arms, shoulders and neck shoes she is tattooed expertly, every part of her covered in spidery dwarvish writing.

She chews thoughtfully for a minute…

(Is that a sign of a religious practice I might know about? Knowledge/Religion +2.)

Give it a roll.

You might have also heard a rumour or two that might help.

The most relevant one seems to be that there might be a shapeshifter out here…

You remember that dwarfs of green, tattooed with words are sometimes called oath breakers.

To the Sister

“Do you know what made that noise?”

Blian smiles grimly.

“I do now.”

She moves stiffly towards the doorway.

“Is it daytime? It’s been a while since I saw the sun. I’m sure you have many questions.”

“Indeed. But first, we should clear this place – have you seen anything worth salvaging here?”

She tilts her head, as if Ash had something funny. “Sunshine first. Dark tales better suit an autumn day.”

She doesn’t wait for an answer.

Ash gestures as if to say “let’s all go to the surface – we can always search this place later”. Does Sister Blian seem to know her way? (Not that there’s much to it.) He stays quiet until we’re all back in daylight.

Sister Blian confidently works her way back to the entrance, and climbs back to the surface.

Sensing the mood, Enfys follows the others back to the surface

She turns to Ash (very much wanting to channel Han Solo and say something about old fossils) and quietly asks “so who is this, and why are we doing what she says?”

“When we were out here last, I heard a voice calling for help, and it gave the name of Sister Blian. Doing as she says? Because she’s had a hard time as a prisoner of those beasts. That doesn’t mean I think she’s necessarily on the side of the angels.”

As you emerge out onto the surface, Blian stretches, and sits down on the ground.

“I assume you have questions?”

“Is that why you were suddenly saying strange words? This ‘Sister Blian’ was talking to you? Without explanation it just seemed like you were saying random stuff. Like you were getting possessed or something.” Ssora looks a little irritated. “Go ahead and chat with the sister. I want to do some stuff down here first.”

((Edit: I reread the thread and Ash did mention her, but I’m going with ‘Ssora is oblivious unless things are spelled out for her’ which is apparently true of me as well’))
