Is there anywhere we can’t see from where we are? If so I’ll just have a quick sneak around to make sure it’s clear.

Nope. Just a square Ice room.

Let’s go for it. The door that would have been on the left

Ssora is exceedingly pleased with herself after her first successful throwing sword kill (which was rewarded with a nice nap), and seems to be much less cautious.

She opens the next door.

Opening the door, you descend a flight of stairs into a larger room, probably a living quarters.

In one corner is a gaol cell made from flattened pieces of metal.

A dwarf stands inside, but her arm is reaching through the bars and has another of the beasts restrained, it’s scaled back is pulled against the bars and her forearm held across its throat.

Even as you approach you hear a crunch as it’s neck shatters.

She steps backwards, breathing heavily.

Any more beasts in here?

“Sister Blian?”

She holds up a bloodied hand in recognition.

The room itself contains a lot of straw bedding on the floor, but little else at first glance. In one corner is a bucket and pulley, leading down a long shaft with the sound of flowing water below, on the other side of the large room is a stone alcove which contains a garderobe, which also leads down a long shaft into flowing water.

Shall we free Sister Bilian?

How would you like to free Sister Blian?

Is the cage locked? If so can we see a key?

The cage is indeed locked, and the key is not visibly hanging up anywhere.

I’m good at picking locks. I have thieves tools

(Not sure what my modifier would be though. ‘disable devices’ at +7? Or it seems pretty stealthy which is also +7)

While Enfys is doing that, Ash will have a poke at the straw (with the butt of the scythe) in case there’s anything worth finding.

Are you searching the guard as well?

If Enfys is still working by the time I’ve finished with the straw, sure. (And lay him out respectfully so that the scavengers can have him.)

Disable device. D20 + 7 please.

@Captbnut asked for a die roll:
Enfys takes some tools and goes to work on the lock

d20+7: 23

(those numbers do exist!)

Just as Enfys clicks the lock open Ash finds the key in the hand of the dead beast.

Nothing of any worth seems to exist here, a few stones with holes through the middle, the remains of a large fish, half gnawed.

Are we able to get down the shafts, or at least see down them?
