Been going through a bunch of old Eldar models I got back from my brother to add to the army I’ve started, trying to figure out what to keep, what to get rid of etc. Thought it would be a useful exercise to dig out all my models and take a bit of an inventory while I decided on what to salvage and what to get rid of.
I also decided I have too many models just sitting in boxes when I’m not playing Age of Sigmar even when we’re not under a Covid lockdown, so should probably go through my skaven and see what’s painted, what’s not, what to keep and what to move on (there are also 2 doom wheels and a unit of gutter runners under my bed, but the wife’s asleep just now and it’d be a little rude to tip her out just for them)
Behold!!
If I can clear out one of the cardboard KR Multicases I’ve been using for the skaven, that’ll be a huge start. Even half
I’ve actually made better progress deciding on necromunda models. Bit of a no-brainer to decide to sell on the old spyrers, scavvies, special characters etc when they’re no longer in production and don’t have rules in the new version of the game.
Still have 2-3 times more cawdor than I need for any 1 gang, so could maybe take a hit there too
Started these today (primed last night, obvi). This is the last of the Blackstone Fortress stuff I need to paint, and then it’s 100% complete (and, I think, theoretically done… GW is apparently not continuing with this BSF line for the foreseeable future, but I am 100% a-okay with that, since I haven’t even played with the stuff I do own!).
Going to try and finish them today. I won’t, but I’m gonna try.
I really, really, really, really hate assembling models.
I particularly hate assembling pewter models. So pointy! So bendy! So many stupid mould lines and joints that don’t quite fit!
I particularly-particularly hate assembling Shasvastii models. Is that a horn, or is that flash? Is that a spike, or is that a mould line? Which way does this knee bend!? ARGH!
That stated, these are at least assembled, and now I can focus on the next step of the project (ordering in enough bases to base all these new shinies).
Gotta admit, that dripping water effect on the tentacle is pretty damn cool. Still, I feel like your entry blows the others out of the water. Maybe it’s different in person.
Tough competition. The lighting on the rider is excellent, although the base is comparatively plain compared to yours and the winner. If other entrants were of similar standards, a runners up is a good achievement.
Yeah, I think Cursed City is the new WH Quest. I almost jumped into BSF but never did, might take the plunge on the new one. It seems to basically be Warhammer meets Castlevania, so…yes!
I do love the unique sculpts GW puts into the standalone games; WH Quest, Underworlds, etc.
Playing around with series D drybrushes and heavy chipping fluid led to this. Was really fun to paint and I like how industrial it looks although the chips do hide the work I did on the red somewhat. I think the chipping fluid will give some great results with a bit of practice
I’ve been really wanting to get a little bottle of chipping fluid to play around with. You seem to be confirming my suspicion that it takes some finesse with your words, but the results in the pics still look really great!
I also believe you are correct (and all the information we’ve received at the game store I work at, which sells a staggering amount of GW product, seems to confirm it as well).
I don’t care for the aesthetic choices for the heroes in this one, but that’s okay! I’m glad they’re switching things up so that a whole new group of players get a chance to dive into the game. And who knows, maybe I’ll flip-flop on it later. But for now, yeah, definitely not my thing.
Funny enough, the heroes are what I most like (though not all of them). The skeles are cool too, and the giant vampire beast. Not keen on the zombies though.
I was sold on it, but…I’m becoming less so. I expect they’ll release rules for WarCry (since BSF got Kill Team rules), but not sure it will be worth it. Game seems fun, but doesn’t grab me like I hoped.
My 9YO daughter spent her allowance to design and print a Hero Forge miniature of me for my birthday. I’m proud of how committed she was to accuracy with the “belly slider.”
This was not a fun paint job but it’s done. Quite pleased with some aspects of it but not thrilled overall. Getting so close to the end of the Yu Jing I can taste it now.
