I have not! I just googled it and it looks interesting

@VictorViper I’m very tempted by that one. I’ve not played anything by Lvl99, but Exceed (especially Street Fighter and Shovel Knight) are on my potential wishlist. I’ll have to dig a bit deeper…

@malkav11 have you played Empyreal: Spells and Steam? I’m extremely tempted to pick it up one day, but I’ve heard a few mixed things, though mostly positive. The one semi-consistent issue being setup time, especially for how quick it plays at lower player counts.
Also, the post-KS buy-in is fairly high.

Keep in mind this is going to be way off the beaten path in terms of their prior dueling systems. This one is basically Super Puzzle Fighter/Puyo Puyo on the table.

Of course if you know those games then you know just how damn competitive they get!

[EDIT] I’ll add that my Voidwalker special edition of The Ultraviolet Grasslands just arrived, so I’ll be eagerly cracking into that this evening.

Just the once. It was our second to last game before quarantine. I did very poorly, because I hadn’t yet really understood the priorities - I had a badass train setup, but turns out that scores…nothing! So I had spent a bunch of time on setup, and then the game ended. Needed to be way more balanced. Lots of cool tricks to pull and moving parts, though, which I enjoy. And, at least in the deluxe Kickstarter edition, fantastic production values. (The less fancy version would still have great art etc, mind you. Just not like…metallic embossing and such.)

They’re re doing a Kickstarter for War if Whispers (it was positively reviewed by The Old Site)

Ooh. That looked rather interesting, and I felt it got rather swamped by The King’s Dilemma. Anyone know of places to try it online?

Edited:

Though Starling Games seems to be the inheritor of Game Salute, which means shipping is likely to be bad.

There’s a WoW TTS mod. Not sure how good it is though.

As an aside, I find it weird how these KSs that charge sales tax have a FAQ of Q: ā€œI don’t usually pay tax on KSs, why are you chargingā€ A: They’re probably committing tax fraud!! Spirit Island and Frosthaven had similar statements.

Sure, say you’re doing things by the book and it’s the only legal option for your campaign, but making spurious claims about other campaigns is unnecessary.

Possibly a certain sense of ā€œwe used to do it like this, but we had a stern talking-to from the authoritiesā€? ShipNaked have certainly used false shipment values in an attempt to avoid paying VAT.

Oh yeah it totally makes sense to do it that way. I don’t see the business sense in commenting on the business practices of others (some of which are quite big businesses) and indirectly accusing them of crimes.

Tempted by this. £32 plus postage seems pretty good for a game these days. My eldest loves The Kings Dilemma and I think this might fulfil a similar goal.

Easy solution: buy some packaging from a place like Chaos Cards and receive a free game. You can then reuse the box…

Oh hell. Well, there goes my birthday gift…

Currently Considering

  • Tiny Epic Pirates - Tiny Epic Galaxies is a pretty good game. Tiny Epic Kingdoms is an ok game. Tiny Epic Quest and Mechs are both meh at best, more gimmick than good game play. Haven’t tried the rest. Which camp does this fit into?

Currently Backing

  • Railroad Ink - in for all the new stuff. It’s possible I have a problem.

Currently Awaiting

  • Anachrony - Have the base game and really like it. Can’t wait for the expansions and upgrades.
  • ArchRavels - present for a very good general friend who is also a light to medium gaming buddy and huge knitter
  • Excavation Earth
  • Frosthaven
  • Oath - husband wasn’t sure about this one but I was really intrigued
  • Return to Dark Tower - I wasn’t sure about this one but husband really wanted it (we are cumulatively a much bigger problem than either of us would be on our own)
  • Sleeping Gods
  • Spirit Island expansion
  • Steampunk Rally Fusion
  • Stygian Society - backed this ages ago. It’s way over due and I already kind of regret backing it and am not sure I want it anymore. Not sure I’ve ever felt that way about a kickstarter before it’s arrived. Maybe I’ll change my mind once it gets here?

Problem? What problem? Intervention you say?

  • BlackList Miniatures: Fantasy Series 1- this will be a gift for my son for D&D, and others miniatures agnostic games like Frostgrave. At least that’s the plan! Lol.

Looking at my waiting list…I may have a problem! Fortunately, I’ve been pretty good this year, and have only actually back games I’ve planned too for awhile (Conan and GoA 2).

Why did you remind me of this, pillbox :joy: :sob: :sob:

Considering

  • Maharaja - Still on the fence
  • Titans - it’s yet another coffin box big plastic area control game. Why do I need one when I have Cthulhu Wars. I paid a dollar so PM is still open to me

Currently Backing:

  • Guards of Atlantis 2

Backed:

  • Newspeak
  • Root: Underworld
  • Bites - re-implementation of Big Points
  • Dice Hospital Community Care expansion
  • Shores of Tripoli - playtested it and I like it. Thought it would be great to back it!
  • Successors - Mark Bigney just can’t stop talking about this game. Also I love the Diadochi theme! Fun fact! Cleopatra was the last of the Diadochi (she is the last sovereign of the Ptolemid family in Egypt)
  • Race to Moscow - having logistics as the focus of a war game sounds interesting to me.
  • Magnate: First City
  • Night of the Mummy - love Dracula’s Feast! So this is an easy buy.
  • Pax Pamir 2
  • GPS, Sequoia, Mountain Goats
  • Pax Renaissance
  • Endeavor: Age of Expansion expansion for Endeavor
  • Smartphone Inc

I was quite tempted by this one. When it arrives, I’ll be eager to know what you think of it. I felt the same way, but isn’t that kinda Quartermaster General’s shtick? They look dissimilar enough that they can both be ā€œThe Logistics Lens of War: The Game - The Breakfast Cerealā€

Good point! I’ll keep that in mind. I have QMG 1914 to dip my toes into the series. Will tag you when I play them both… eventually.
