Restoration Games is doing another Unmatched Storage Solution crowdfund, this one through Backerkit.
Having essentially filled my previous two boxes, I am getting a third. Also, having previously horribly underestimating the number of sleeves needed, I am getting 24 packs of 40 sleeves. Probably still not enough for everything but I can at least sleeve most of my collection, and then have it all stored within three big boxes rather than spread amongst a bunch of smaller ones.
Except for the T-Rex. She cannot be contained.

Glancing at this board game crowd funding project I noticed something odd about the why back now section. There are 2 statements that appear to invalidate the other. 1 it won’t go to retail. 2 it’s heavily discounted. If this is the only way it will be sold what’s it discounted against?

And I went ahead and backed Lord of the Rings: the Confrontation. Just the standard edition. I’m not rolling in money. I approve their decision to allow the Stretch-pay option, as now I’m just on the hook for $8.33/mo for six months.

I watched a small electronics accessory go from “£9.99” to “£13.99 discounted to £9.99 for Amazon Prime Day ONLY” this week.
The skins you can buy in the computer game Valorant are often sold in bundles where they have a 50% discount if you buy them in the limited-time bundle, but without any way to purchase them outside of the bundle!
Feels like we need more rules about advertised discounts, or maybe more action to make sure the rules are followed…

This is what happened to Black Friday and is increasingly happening to Prime Day. There’s lots of real deals but you have to cross check any price before you commit. I got a universal remote for a true 20% off but Twilight Imperium 4th was selling at a markup over most online stores.

I assumed this as well but it looks like they use a lot of language like “Only on Gamefound” and “Crowdfunding exclusive game”… Maybe it’s coming to their site later on, but they’re doing their best to give the impression it’s not!
Their previous game campaigns didn’t have similar taglines, and the “full price” numbers given on their last campaign seem to be higher than what they’re actually selling for on their site, so the discount isn’t even as big as advertised!

In the UK there are rules about “discounted prices” at retail, but I bet nobody tries to enforce them on Amazon.

I backed LOTR The Confrontation deluxe in the end.
It’s one of my favorite games. And it’s one of my favorite IPs. I think I’ll be happy to have it.
As always, with kickstarter, I don’t think the value is quite there. But the gap between what I think it’s worth and what they demand was swallowable to have this thing for my own.
