Deluxe box of Star Trek Ascendancy on the way. Little detail so far.
As with their 10th anniversary Firefly, if they eventually produce a “just the new stuff” pack I’ll buy it, but I don’t need a second copy of the game.

Can’t work out who the new race is. I’m hoping the Kazon.
BGG speculation is mostly running to Gorn or Pakled.
One of those makes a lot of sense.
The other could easily be beaten by a crimson force field.
New Cascadia Kickstarter on the way next week:
“A brand new series of flip-and-roll-and-write games! Cascadia: Rolling Hills and Cascadia: Rolling Rivers are brand new designs by Randy and they are illustrated with breathtaking new art by Beth”

Ascending Empires: Zenith Edition by Play to Z — Kickstarter
IT’S HAPPENING!!
Thunder Road Vendetta is back for people who missed the last KS, with an expansion so that they can re-KS it.

What’s the hype behind this one? First I’ve heard of it but I’ve been out of the loop recently
Argh, this is tempting. It looked fun to begin with, but then hearing Tom and Matt talk about it on a podcast made it sound even better. Still, I don’t think I need everything, and the main game is available through retail, so I think I can pass this by. I’ve still got plenty of games I have yet to get to the table.
4x but you flick the ships
Im not backing and will wait for retail. Im just glad it’s out there.
I’ve played it once. My feelings in short were: lovely bits, hyooooge box that I don’t have room to store, and who wins is close to being a lottery.
Cascadia flip and roll and writes KS is up:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/flatoutgames/cascadia-rolling
Looks fun, and only $19 before shipping makes it an actually decent small box game price.
Has a Solo mode (main Cascadia’s solo was very good) and a Family mode to simplify it. I think Cascadia is one of the best welcoming/gateway etc type games, so family mode makes sense.
To be honest, I watched the NRB Let’s Play and it looked underwhelming compared to how Matt & Tom described it.
Ready, Set, Bet is getting a deluxe oversized edition.
Tom Vasel has done a paid advert for it, which he says he didn’t mind doing because (spoiler) it’s very very high in his top 100 last year:
KS opens on March 5th:

that’s actually a game where an oversized edition makes sense. if only i felt this would find time on my table.
I tend to stay pretty light on crowdfunding. And while I’ve regretted missing some campaigns (See: Forks) I can’t think of a time I’ve regretted not backing. Most of these are reprints of known quantities.
Galactic Renaissance: Due this month. For whatever reason I’m super excited about this one.
Carson City: April. Xavier Georges. I need all his stuff now. I went for the cardboard version.
Through the Desert, Message from the Stars, Switchbacks: May. TtD has long eluded me. Switchbacks looked good and I’ve been treated well by AllPlay small boxes. MftS is along for the ride but I’m bullish there too.
Innovation Ultimate: June, maybe slipped to late summer?
Lords of Vegas: June. This is the one that upset me, they were forecasting December and have had a string of entirely foreseeable schedule slips. I thought these guys were a mess but reading about the rest of the campaigns on here, it sounds like they are middle of the pack. As foreseen on my end, the whole package will be available and cheaper at retail. Maybe now I’ve learned.
Also Indonesia pre-order. I’ve decided not to get FCM countless times. I think this (along with Zimbabwe) will be my splotter collection.
Separately, Mori is on record saying that after Winds of Galecrest and Archeos Society, Dogs of War is back on the workbench. I dis-prefer crowdfunding for multiple reasons but one of them is that you have to track EVERY release in order to become aware of that one you actually cared about. So I’m not tracking crowdfunding at all, if someone sees Dogs of War 2e come up please @ me!
I think this is true for me too.
I always get excited just before and after the end date of a crowdfunder but when it arrives I almost never feel sad about missing an object that’s in other peoples hands and often I’m not that excited when it is in my own hands. There’s some exceptions (dark tower, original 3d Rome game I’ve forgotten the name of) but it’s a much smaller list.
I get much more excited about things I’ve just seen in a shop/store and I can buy after a week or two of imagining playing it after assessing it might work for me (reviews, playthroughs and so on).
There’s an Indonesia preorder up?
Gamenerdz here stateside has had it up for months. Still “TBD 2024” though so no details on actual release yet.
Ah, the old “speculative preorder”. Yeah, we know Splotter are working on it, but I assume content, price, and publishing date are still unknown even to Splotter. Although the changes are unlikely to be drastic, it’s not simply a reprint.
