Star Trek Ascendancy game 3

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
Round 1
Romulans hit on 4+: pool 5d6: 1, 2, 2× 3, 5
Cardassians hit on 3+: pool 3d6: 1, 2, 3

One Romulan ship is destroyed; four remain, fleet is intact.
One structure is destroyed (the culture node).

@Assussanni, taking your standing order, you continue the attack.
@MIGHTYSploosh, fight on or surrender?

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
Round 2
Romulans hit on 4+: pool 4d6: 2× 1, 3, 6
Cardassians hit on 3+: pool 2d6: 3, 6

Control node is destroyed, and the system is razed. Romulans lose two more ships, fleet disperses.

And now for the most futile action of the game.

Commands 6&7: battle group #2 warps to outside Cardassia Prime.
Command 8: the 5 ships of Battle Group #2 attack the massive Cardassian force of 24 ships.
Romulans have First Strike, hitting on 4+ and rerolling 1s, any Cardassian survivors, of which there will be at least 19 plus a starbase, retaliate and hit on 3+.

@RossM Does the might of the single Ferengi vessel want to play an undoubtedly pivotal (in their eyes) role in the defence of Cardassia Prime?

I really don’t. Good luck though!

@Assussanni asked for a die roll:
Okay, let’s get this over with then.

Romulan First Strike attack: pool 5d6: 2× 4, 5, 2× 6

@Assussanni asked for a die roll:
I should have sent that fleet in first!

5 Cardassian ships destroyed. Only 19 more to go…

Cardassians retaliate: pool 20d6: 3× 1, 4× 2, 3, 3× 4, 7× 5, 2× 6

Boom!

Romulan Battle Group #2 is destroyed in its entirety (surprising no-one, except perhaps those 5 Cardassian ships).

End of turn.

Card 9: Vulcan (@Delwayne)

Vulcans would be next…

From Vulcan:
It seems we cannot change the win of the Cardassians for this round.

However, we can attempt to make it a joint win effort of both Cardassian and Ferengi if we were to reduce Cardassian systems by one, thus it would be a tied victory because they both would have the same amount of owned systems.

Do Cardassians surrender with that outcome, or do we need to proceed to the actual attempt at the Bajor system?

If Cardassians surrender, we can end game here and they would both win in a tie. (if that is acceptable to Cardassians) @MIGHTYSploosh

We either win completely, or die trying. Do your worst!

I think this could be very close. Exciting!

Vulcan.
Ascend spending 5 culture.
Build 8 ships. Use 1 from home to create Fleet 3 (total 9 ships).
C1&2. Send Fleet 3 in and out of warp. It will exit just before Bajor with that other ship.
C3: Bring in another ship from warp; out of warp (does not matter from where). It will be with Fleet 3 and ships.
C4: Initiate Battle
C5: Initiate Invasion.
Good luck on the dice rolling!
Total force: 11 ships
The enemy: 8 ships and 4 nodes.

I have 10 ships. My fleet #2 is there with 3 on it. Also, you can only put newly built ships on the fleet in the build phase.

You can freely add ships to a fleet without spending a command (12.1.4), so as long as you build the minimum number of ships during the build phase to form the fleet you can then add as many as you like to the fleet from the ones that are already there, up to its maximum size.

That’s what I did. Built them into the fleet, and then prior to the fleet going into warp, it took the other one.
