One Klingon ship and one Federation ship are destroyed. Tactical Manoeuvre to hop across the Eagle Nebula and start towards Earth. But I’d still need two more commands to engage the Federation ships at Earth: 1 to Impulse over there, 1 more to initiate combat. (Should have commissioned that last starbase last turn…) Well, I’ll do it now, just in case.

  • C1 put Fleet 1 into warp. (1 system + 2 warp bonuses would get it to Neutron Star.)
  • C2-4 add 3 warp tokens to get it to (just short of) Izar.
  • C5 bring it out of warp
  • C6 initiate space battle against Federation ships at Izar.

Klingon forces: 10 ships, weapons 3+, shields 0.
Federation forces: 6 ships in Battle Group (can reroll 1s), 1 separate ship, and 1 starbase. Weapons 3+, shields 1.

Klingons destroy 6 ships (no Culture yet, I have to not lose the battle). So there will be 1 ship + the starbase left. Federation Battle Group 2 disperses.

Federation destroys 8 ships. Klingon Fleet 1 has 2 ships left, and disperses.

I prefer the first roll.

One Klingon hit, which finishes off the last Federation ship.

Klingons defeated 3+ ships and gain a Culture.

I could start an Invasion, but a Control Node without any Ships doesn’t block movement, and I’d be attacking with two dice against a target that can ignore one hit each round. So I won’t do that. Surviving ships make a Tactical Manoeuvre into the lane towards Earth.

- C7 I’ll commission that starbase, at Sigma Draconis.

Okay. I have 18 Romulan Warbirds with First Strike (Overkill? Probably). They hit on 4+ but the Federation has Shield 1, so I hit on 5-6.

The Federation hits on 3+, but I have Shield 1, so Federation Fire will hit on 4-6. And a Starbase on the same numbers.

Let’s see if your superior Phaser technology will matter…
