@Marx asked for a die roll:
Another Romulan Ship spared by Shield Harmonics.
Cool. Follow-up move for all 17 remaining ships to enter Earthspace.
Command 7: Invasion!
Romulans rolling 17 attacks and need to get MORE THAN 4 hits to successfully invade, or LESS THAN 4 hits to not screw everything up. Ignore first hit and one reroll due to tech.
Federation firing back with 5 shots (3 nodes, colony, and starbase), and ignores the first hit due to Planetary Shields.
Well, I was trying to give the win to me… But looking at the numbers, it’s going to be… tricky.
I think my only hope is a direct assault on Kronos Round 1 next turn and securing a victory that way. But it’s a far less certain thing than the attack on Earth. Lots of fleets to punch through… at least I have 9 Command to do it?
But even then, I have to hold it AND Earth for the remainder of the turn. And that’s… iffy…
I thought you could go for joint Ascendancy, since you can get 5 Culture next turn if you hold on to Earth and finish Tal Shiar Monitoring, but that only gets you to 4…
I don’t think you can take back Earth this turn. Battle fleet at Indri and threaten homeworlds from there? Ideally you take Kronos and I take Romulus and we can have a three-way homeworld-occupying standoff.
In order for me to win, I have to take Kronos on Round 1 next turn (before the Klingons can win with Ascendancy).
I think I have to strike at Kronos from Sherman’s World, but that means I’m leaving those 17 ships in orbit of Earth, so you’ll have to try and punch through there.
I would build up as big a fleet you can this turn, and prepare it to take back Earth next turn. Maybe try and take back Izar this turn. But yeah, lots of ships within striking distance of Earth is really the only priority as far as I can tell. You have better shield and weapon tech than I do, but you have to survive my first strike, so you need ablative armour.
Actually, I take it back. I don’t think I can outbid the Klingons for 1st turn next turn, so I think they have it (I was counting the Federation contract into my Production, and I don’t have that any more).
Sooo… desperate attack on Earth this turn with everything you have? You have nothing to lose but ships!
Note that the victory check is in the Recharge Stage at the end of the round – i.e. I need to buy up to 5 Ascendancy on my turn, and then hold Kronos after everyone else’s turns, whatever order they happen in.
I see 8 production on the Fed board, so 8 new ships. You have the commands to fleet those up if you want to. Otherwise, end of round, recharge phase to follow.
