Six Degrees (of whoever we want)!

Omg, I am feeling tempted to open a thread just with quotes from discobot

Off-topic, but I’ve been writing a book with 60 entries on different concepts and gathering quotes for them. Quotes, it turns out, are great. I think my favourite was getting a quote each by Aristotle, Asimov and Jimi Hendrix on the same page.

It is a bit far fetched at times, and I have jumped through one director, DC comics and one role, but let’s see…

Peter Sellers was famous for playing Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther original movies,
A role reprised by Steve Martin in the 2000s
He was a love interest of Meryl Streep in It’s Complicated.
She played the wife of Jack Nicholson in the heart breaking movie Heartburn (also about complicated marriages)
Who played The Joker in the original Batman movie, which Zack Snyder has also directed movies for the DC superheroes world, with the Caped Crusader in them,
And Zack Snyder directed Billy Cudrup in Watchmen

Darn, I cannot get away from superhero movies…

Can we connect Sean Connery to Tim Roth (and the more baddies connecting, the better)

Not quite sure that one works, as Sellers and Martin were not in a film together, same with Nicholson and Snyder, which is how the connections are supposed to work. But hey, whatever is fun!

To do it with just actors:

Billy Crudup was in Watchmen with Jeffrey Dean Morgan
who was in The Losers with Zoe Saldana
who was in Star Trek with Leonard Nimoy
who was in Transformers: The Movie with Orson Welles
who was in Casino Royale with Peter Sellers

I completely missed that Orson Welles was in Transformers… :astonished:

Sean Connery was the baddie in the Avengers starring Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman played the Baddie in Batman and Robin as Did Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Arnold played the baddie in terminator genisys as did Matt Smith

Matt Smith played the baddie in Nightmare in silver in which a planet was blown up by Warwick Davis

Warwick Davis played a baddie in Labyrinth as did David Bowie.

David Bowie was a baddie in Arthur and the invisibles with Harvey Keitel.

Harvey Keitel has been in at least three films with Tim Roth, and they were pretty much always baddies.

Ok, let’s shake this up a bit.

Picture no. 1 was famously robbed by Pierce Brosnan on The Thomas Crown Affair
He was Will Ferrell icelandic dad in Eurovision: the Movie
He was in a few movies with Mark Whalberg, namely The Other Guys,
He was in Mile 22 with John Malkovich,
Who played in both Red movies a secret agent with…
Bruce Willis who was in the Hudson Hawk with picture no. 2

I don’t know if I have too many steps, or too few, as I don’t know if the paintings count as links…

Let’s connect Michelle Pfeiffer to Julie Andrews, because I just used blokes on mine and feel bad about it…

Spent a evening talking about Bill Paxton when I saw that a older Vampire movie was added to Shudder, Near Dark, that he was in.

There are some hilarious behind the scenes info about it here

Love that. Why on Earth would Jackson push for three movies…? :person_facepalming::person_facepalming:

It’s literally quicker to read the book that watch all three movies (I may have timed this in a fit of rage).

I’ve still yet to fully watch any of them, but I got my partner the combined LOTR/Hobbit blu-ray set (as she’s a big Tolkien nerd) and I’ve seen some of the behind-the-scenes stuff on there.

It’s really baffling hearing them talk about how difficult it was to basically pad out the films with crap Peter Jackson was just making up. And how it was hard to make a satisfying second film that’s basically the end of film 1 and the start of film 2.

As far as I can see, a combination of:

  • the LotR trilogy was a huge success, therefore fantasy trilogy again!
  • nobody’s ever going to pay to have The Silmarillion filmed so this is PJ’s only chance at doing his favourite bits of that

I did a thing

Earha Kitt was in Boomerang with Eddie Murphy,
who was launching a video for Grace Jones (still in Boomerang),
mingling with his friend played by Martin Lawrence (also in Boomerang),
seducing and being played by Robin Givens, (also in Boomerang),
and eventually settling down with the beautiful Halle Berry (guess what movie? yes, Boomerang)

Next link?

I wouldn’t have thought it was allowed, but hey.

Jackie Chan to Josh Hartnett anybody…?

Jackie Chan was in Shanghai Noon with Owen Wilson
who was in Zoolander with David Bowie
who was in The Prestige with Michael Caine
who was in Batman Begins with Morgan Freeman
who was in Lucky Number Slevin with Josh Hartnett

All off the top of my head! And for an encore: (also without IMDB)

Eartha Kitt was in The Emperor’s New Groove with Patrick Warburton
who was in A Series of Unfortunate Events with Lucy Punch
who was in Ella Enchanted with Anne Hathaway
who was in Les Miserables with Hugh Jackman
who was in X-Men with Halle Berry
