The whole 6 step/6 actors thing came up back in the original thread. I think wit was decided to go with 6 actors as it is more of a challenge, despite the misleading thread title.
Really, it’s an arbitrary number, as obviously the original challenge is to make as short a chain as possible.

Actually, not 100% true, because sometimes the connection would be just one or two links. In those events, the challenge is stretching it out to hit the six link requirement.
