Play Jester.
@Phil, we all need more cards. Help us out? You are up.
Play Jester.
@Phil, we all need more cards. Help us out? You are up.
Castle: Q() attack 0 health 11, + 7 more
Current damage done: 9♠ J♠ Jester
Discard: A♠, + 17 more
Tavern: 18
A♥ 7♥
9♦
8♣ J♦ 10♥
Note that you could have kept the Jester – with those Spades in play, you could both Yield without taking any damage if you wanted to pass control directly to me.
Interesting, though… perhaps you have an Ace you want to play so that we deal exact damage. (Edit: Ah, no, I was momentarily forgetting we were facing the Queen of Diamonds!)
Edit2: Oh I’m a fool; of course the Jester is nullifying the Diamonds so that I really can play the Jack right away, which is precisely why you played it.
I’m a fool; the Jester is nullifying the Diamonds so that I really can play the Jack right away, and I was forgetting that.
Darn. I posted with a different play, because I thought I couldn’t do what I think @COMaestro actually wanted me to do, but I absolutely could have; so I’ve probably revealed another card in my hand (unless no one saw that before I deleted it).
Sorry for the blunder, folks!
Should I push ahead with what I did instead, or should I take it back and do what I ought to have done in the first place?
I don’t mind.
I think we’re treading water here at the moment and I’d have retaken two of my turns.
I’m happy to go with the misplay and see what turns up.
I didn’t see it (unless I dig back into message history). @Phil’s call.
Do you have a preference, @COMaestro ?
I feel like you set it up for me and then I fluffed it, so I’ll go with your preferred option, if you have one.
(If not, I’ll go with my original play, as I think @Captbnut saw it.)
I saw it because I read the post history before the rest of the thread. So let’s just keep going with the fluffed play.
Ok, @RogerBW the play was/is:
8♣ to finish off the current Queen, and then J♦ against the next one, after which I’ll have 15 damage to take.
Phil plays 8♣, finishing off Q♦
Castle: Q♣ attack 15 health 30, + 6 more
Discard: Q♦, + 22 more
Tavern: 18
A♥ 7♥
9♦
J♦ 10♥
Phil plays J♦:
Castle: Q♣ attack 15 health 20, + 6 more
Current damage done: J♦
Discard: Q♦, + 22 more
Tavern: 8
A♥ 7♥ 7♣ 6♥ 2♣
9♦ A♦ 3♠ 3♦
10♥ 8♦ 6♦ 9♣ 5♦
@Phil to take damage, then @COMaestro to play.
Discard 6♦ 9♣ please.
Hmm, I am going to have to discard three cards to successfully defend. Should I go ahead and do whatever damage I can, leaving me with just one card, or should I yield to ensure I keep two? Thoughts?
The diamond queen has gone, so restocking is at least possible (if we have the cards)
It’s so hard to say. The tavern is worryingly low, so we need some hearts in the near future. Spades would be nice to cut down on damage. Or a low diamond could be good (we’d be down by 5 cards if you play a card). Clubs not maximally helpful vs Clubs, so you might prefer to hang on to a good one of those?
Okay, I will play 7♥
Then defend with 7♣ 6♥ 2♣
Castle: Q♣ attack 15 health 13, + 6 more
Current damage done: J♦ 7♥
Discard: 7♣, + 20 more
Tavern: 15
A♥
9♦ A♦ 3♠ 3♦
10♥ 8♦ 5♦
@Captbnut to play.
Pair of 3s please - diamonds and spades.
I’ll see what I draw before discarding
OK, 6♠ drops attack to 9, 6♦ pulls 6 cards off the tavern, and 6 damage dealt.
Castle: Q♣ attack 9 health 7, + 6 more
Current damage done: J♦ 7♥ (3♠ 3♦)
Discard: 7♣, + 20 more
Tavern: 9
A♥ 9♥ 5♥
9♦ A♦ 4♠ 7♦
10♥ 8♦ 5♦ 6♣ 4♦
9 (gah) for damage
5♦ thanks @RogerBW.
