I forgot about yielding.
How do @COMaestro @Phil @RogerBW feel about a take back?
Although now you’d all know one of cards and one of Phil’s.

All good; I think we just continue. I don’t think we’re going to get derailed this early in the proceedings : ) (Or at least, I hope not : )
In principle I’m happy to rewind if the players agree, but it sounds as though they don’t in this case.
COMaestro and Captbnut get a Tavern card each. J♣ is killed, but not exactly-killed, so goes to discard.
Castle: J♠ attack 10 health 20, + 9 more
Discard: 6♠, + 5 more
Tavern: 25
Jester 2♠ 3♣ A♥ J♦
8♥ 9♠ 7♥
10♣ 4♣ 8♣ 10♦
@Phil to play again.
10♣ please @RogerBW.
Oh, @RogerBW, the first card from my 2♦ should have gone to me.
(Which was the J♦ of course.)
The other card was random… if @Captbnut hasn’t looked at it yet(?) you could just edit the hands to move it to @COMaestro. Otherwise I guess we could shuffle it into the Tavern (being careful to keep the bottom three cards as they are), and then draw a replacement?
Or maybe that’s unnecessary hassle.
Edit: In fact, I’m playing diamonds again (see below) before play gets back to anyone else, so let’s just leave that rogue card with @Captbnut and everything will still be just as random as it should be once all hands are restocked.
I need to get to sleep, but I can queue up my next play at least.
My 10♣ is an exact kill for the J♠ and then it’s me again to face the jack of hearts (being the only remaining jack), and I’ll be playing 10♦ to fill everyone’s hands. I’ll then need to take 10 damage, but want to see what I’ve drawn before choosing cards to discard.
Yes, sorry, I was thinking of 5-card hands. So the situation before @Phil 's second play looks like:
Castle: J♠ attack 10 health 20, + 9 more
Discard: 6♠, + 5 more
Tavern: 25
Jester 2♠ 3♣ A♥ 7♥
8♥ 9♠
10♣ 4♣ 8♣ 10♦ J♦
10♣ exactly-kills J♠, leaving:
Castle: J♥, + 8 more
Discard: 10♣, + 6 more
Tavern: 26
Jester 2♠ 3♣ A♥ 7♥
8♥ 9♠
4♣ 8♣ 10♦ J♦
10♦ fills hands and does 10 damage.
Castle: J♥ attack 10 health 10, + 8 more
Current damage done: 10♦
Discard: 10♣, + 6 more
Tavern: 18
Jester 2♠ 3♣ A♥ 7♥ 5♠
8♥ 9♠ A♠ 2♥ 9♦ 3♥
4♣ 8♣ J♦ J♠ 10♥ 7♠
@Phil to discard to soak 10 damage, then @COMaestro to play.
Discard 4♣ 7♠ thanks.
Queen of something is coming up!
I’ve been wondering whether “who has the enemy cards from perfect kills” should be included alongside the hand counts as open information. It’s something that everyone can track in theory, and the PBF format might make it way easier for us to forget that info just because the time between plays can be so long. Of course, we can go back in the record and look, but that’s cumbersome. I considered adding spoiler’d “note to self” in my posts for stuff like that, but what do people think? Should it just be public info?
E.g. “Phil hand (6, incl. J♦ J♠)” – as we all know that I’ve picked up those two cards.
Not sure if that’d be a pain for you to manage, @RogerBW ??
That was a very helpful set of plays
Play 5♠
Discard 2♠ 3♣ to soak the remaining 5.
Not feeling too good about this.
I certainly had a rather good starting hand. That surely means slimmer pickings are in my future…
Hmm. The thing is, once the [JQK] is in your hand, I don’t currently store whether it came from the top of the deck (public) or the bottom (secret). (That sentence was untrue before I finished writing it.)
Castle: J♥ attack 5 health 5, + 8 more
Current damage done: 10♦ 5♠
Discard: 2♠, + 10 more
Tavern: 18
Jester A♥ 7♥
8♥ 9♠ A♠ 2♥ 9♦ 3♥
8♣ J♦ J♠ 10♥
@Captbnut to play.
8 of hearts for the kill please
OK, power is cancelled by Jack suit and card goes to discard.
Castle: Q♦ attack 15 health 30, + 7 more
Discard: J♥, + 14 more
Tavern: 18
Jester A♥ 7♥
9♠ A♠ 2♥ 9♦ 3♥
8♣ J♦ J♠ 10♥
@Captbnut to play again.
9 of spades please
Discard 2&3 of hearts and ace of spades
Sorry guys, feel like I’m not helping much here
Castle: Q♦ attack 6 health 21, + 7 more
Current damage done: 9♠
Discard: A♠, + 17 more
Tavern: 18
Jester A♥ 7♥
9♦
8♣ J♦ J♠ 10♥
@Phil to play.
J♠ thanks.
That stops it attacking anyone, which seems sensible right now!
Castle: Q♦ attack 0 health 11, + 7 more
Current damage done: 9♠ J♠
Discard: A♠, + 17 more
Tavern: 18
Jester A♥ 7♥
9♦
8♣ J♦ 10♥
Over to @COMaestro.
On the contrary, 9 of spades was extremely helpful!
My only pointer is that instead of discarding the ace of spades, you could have played it with the 9. Animal companions and combos are always something to keep in mind. (IIRC in the previous game there were a few opportunities to play combos of 4s and 5s that I think weren’t picked up on at the time, and they can be tremendously strong things to play if you have the chance.)
