So you can Still play it in the original trilogy universe but just need the dice and cards?
Rogue one was good but had far more forgettable characters vs the original. IMHO
I also just found this which is amazing!!!

That is handy! Thanks
I think so. @Brattyjedi is going to know the mechanics better than because Iāve not played in 6 months. I remember it was much smoother
Thatās what weāve got. No one here needs to see our shopping list and meals for the week though.
Yeah, you can still play entirely in the original trilogy universe with the cinematic tactic cards.
You can just play base game stuff replacing combat rules with the new tactic stuff and nothing else would have to change. Just donāt use any of the other stuff in the Rogue One box and it would work just fine.
Beyond that if you want to play with other content, the expansion comes with new recruit cards for some Rogue One characters but not too many. You mix those in with the originals and play with all of them, but since you always draw 2 and recruit 1, if you draw a Rogue One character you donāt like you could just recruit the other you drew.
When you setup the game, thereās now sort of three sets of cards for the main mission cards you can assign leaders to. Thereās one set that has the image of a leader in the top corner, each leaderās special card that they do better at, some of those came from the base game and some the expansion and you always play with all of them. Then thereās one set with no icon that came with the base game and one set with a little Vader helmet that came with the expansion. Each player individually picks one of those two to shuffle with the set with leader faces on to make the deck they will play with for the game. The Vader icon does have some missions that thematically reference stuff from Rogue One and some based on the Original Trilogy but really itās just each set is slightly different play styles and thereās dozens of threads on BGG arguing about which is best and the balance of them all.
Thereās also a few Rogue One inspired cards to shuffle into the Imperial Projects deck and some to mix into the Rebel Objectives deck but they donāt overwhelm the original trilogy content I donāt think and you could just leave them out even if mixing in other things.
Iāve got printouts of the map from both playersā perspective with boxes to check for probe droid and imperial presence that I got from someone on BGG for us to mark on during the game. Itās helpful for the Rebel player to be able to track where the imps might have previously had boots on the ground but donāt now but itās almost essential for the Empire player to have it so they donāt have to constantly keep flipping through their stack of probe cards.
I saw on Etsy someone made a notepad for the game too that does the same thing as the weblink.
Rebellion notepad
Thatās basically what I have except just as a pdf from someone on BGG, oriented both ways for either side of the table, and I print sheets on my home computer as needed. I usually print 4 or 5, throw them in the box, and play grabbing from them until sometime we go to play and there arenāt any then I print some more.
EDIT: hereās the pdf file I print from.
Iāve been painting up the Legend of Drizzt Adventure System game, and The Boy wanted to give the completed bits a run through. Still a great little system, and easy to modify for younger players.
Had a quick couple of games of Splendor yesterday evening with my OH, and she battered me 16-10 on the first game, so I had to come back at her with a 16-4, just because. maybe I need to get hurt in my pride to get the beast out
We left it there as we needed to bath the girls. A nice draw.
First game of Arkham Horror The Card Game via TTS with a friend. Yeah, I can see the appeal, but Iām not likely to get into it.
Also Jaipur on BGA.
Played a pretty low scoring game of Brass yesterday. We were all trying out new strategies, and unfortunately for me I did not succeed in generating the income required to support the building of all of my tier 4 cotton mills. The winning strategy in the end was shipyards plus railways.
Thatās the hell of a lot of iron to develop into the fourth tier, even building the odd one or two on the wayā¦
3 tier 3 in canal era, and 2-3 tier 4 in rail, seems reasonable. Getting a tier 4 flipped in canal is something to aspire to.
My wife and I played Patchwork today. She didnāt do so hot, having a lot of empty squares on her board, though she had a lot of buttons on her quilt. In comparison, I had maybe 8 buttons on mine, but only 8 empty squares, and I had gotten the 7x7 bonus.
Final scores were 16 for me and -8 for her
Whenever we play Patchwork, Iāll always happily leave the occasional 1x1 hole on the assumption that at some point Iām going to pick up some 1x1 patches. The frequency with which I actually end up with zero or one patches is almost certainly not just chance : )
Had a Geekās Guild Game night (at last!) after three weeks of different events not letting me join (namely Covid testing of the hostās child, flooding in Napier and my little one being sick last week), but I wonāt complain, I am getting to play games. With people. Live. Iām sooo privileged.
Played a game of 5 of Puerto Rico, which was enjoyable, but I always felt like battling for scraps. We had a very low score game (winner got at 34) and I finished 3rd with 27. There were plenty of actions taken that really caught me at the worst of times (captains when I had no produce, trading when I had the wrong kind of barrels) plus I had the winner sitting to my right, so he took most of the times the action I was wanting to take and nicked the bonus I was after, or was many times the last one to get colonists through a mayor. Still, Hacienda, small warehouse and construction hut helped me through to get a decent score-ish. I preferred much more playing at four, it was far less frustrating.
Then moved on to play Century: Spice Road. Still at 5. And after Puerto Rico, I think my brain gave up midway. Still managed a decent 60 points with only 3 score cards, but again, at 5, I think the game suffers from over competition. Finished 3rd by a good 21 points.
With 20 minutes to spare, we had a quick Werewords round where the Werewolf managed to escape undetected. The word was tricky, so I thought it was the mayor. We hanged the seeker, shame on us.
Had a lovely evening last night playing The Quest for El Dorado. I came last, in a thrillingly tight finish. Which delighted the other two no end!
It has to be one of the games we get to the table most and when itās suggested I never say no to playing it. Really good fun
I just finished my morning game of Calico and got my best score (69), beating my partnerās standing high score by a lucky 13. Thatās probably gonna set a fire and Iāll be trying to best 4000 by tomorrow, but hey, Iāll take it while I can!
KLASK. Lots of KLASK. With my wife. She loves it even more than me. Such a great game!
A couple of gaming days looming for next week so hopefully can get some other games played then. Iām hoping to get Fake Artist, Werewords and Just One off the shelf of shame at some point. Turns out I donāt tend to play with 5+ players very often. Ah well. Games will be played, fun will be had.
Had a learning game of Eclipse with my kid yesterday, and I was amazed that he managed to understand most of it. We played 6 out of 8 rounds and it was a good laugh. Of course his favourite part was the combat. He wanted to go up against one of the Guardian ships near the start and I let him at it, just to show him that upgrades are a useful thing to do first! In fairness to him, despite getting destroyed he came back 4 rounds later and kicked its ass. Unsurprisingly he wants to play it again at the weekend
