Do I need to make some kind of roll to see if I recover?
Fronika will also do her second watch in the same spot!
@Scribbs asked for a die roll:
(Meinrad doesnāt need to make a roll, but whether the condition has gone depends on timing. Speaking of whichā¦)
d10: 5
It is midnight, Else and Fronika on their second watch.
The day has passed slowly. There was the odd passerby during daylights hours, which cease completely once night falls. On the water you see barges floating past, with lanterns marking their progress in the dark. The sounds of carts clattering overhead across the bridge disturb your rest a little to start with, but you become used to the noise after a while. But essentially, there has been nothing of note that you have observed.
(Perception tests for Else and Fronika please. Else, you have +10 ( average test due to your night vision, but at -10 due to the fatigued condition from the malaise of your infected wound).
@Griffster77 asked for a die roll:
d100: 51
vs Elseās Perception 53 (43 +10)
@Sagantine asked for a die roll:
Fronika squints in the darkā¦
d100: 18
vs 31
(Good rolls!)
A fog that starts to rise from the river just before midnight, and it is a strain to keep a focus on the river bank. But your ears arenāt decieved. You hearing a slash and then dripping noises, as if from water cascading off something just emerged from the river, and then the residue trickling off. Thereās a scrape of what might be claws on wood, coming from the ricketing pontoon where the boat was moored. The noise starts to come closer, and you can detect a large shape starting to approach.
Else hisses to Fronika āWake the others quietly and get ready to make fire. Weāll blind whatever is out there with the torches when it gets closer!ā
Sheāll train a pistol though their spy holes on the shadowy shape nearing through the fog and whispers a small prayer to Sigmar to guide her aim.
(fronika is sitting outside of the shack! perhaps Else should wake the others up?)
(Which also prompts me to make a small clarification. When I wrote that the large shape is starting to approach, as the rest of you are currently hidden away, it is safe to assume Fronika has attracted its attentionā¦)
In the middle of the night, in fog? Really?? Ok, if so, I edit my post toā¦
Elseās quickly wakes the others, putting her hand over their mouths as she does to prevent any noise. She quickly hisses instructions to ready the torches so we can surprise and blind their mystery guest.
Sheāll train a pistol though their spy holes on the shadowy shape nearing through the fog and whispers a small prayer to Sigmar to guide her aim.
(I said sheād ābe in the same place for her second watchā in an ealier post, so Iāve gotta stick with that. Iām assuming that Fron would actually find the ability to see whatās coming and run away more comforting than walls, which have failed her in the past)
Fronika is ready to bolt the moment the thing gets any closer, hopefully in the confusion of Elseās attack.
(How close before you fire Else?)
(What is everyone else doing on being woken up?)
From our perception tests, have we ascertained that whatever it is, probably isnāt human?
Larger than a human, it likely has claws or talons, and it has just emerged from the river. You can deduce from that as you will.
In that case, Else will wait until it gets within about 10 metres. Very quietly she whispers to the others, āWhen that thing gets closer, Iāll fire - as soon as I do, light the torches and we go out and surprise whatever scum has chosen us as its prey tonight!ā
Amris, keeping quiet, peeps out one of the holes and readies to light his torch.
āFair enough.ā
Meinrad, secretly hoping nothing would happen and that he would have been able to dry his shoes with some fire just in time from breakfast, gets up and scramble to find torches and way to light them up.
He barely manage to stop a cough. He goes next to the door. Heās as ready as he can be.
(Does anything happen between know and the creature getting within about 10m?)
The darkness and the swirling fog serve to keep the creature very indistinct, and it is very challenging for Else to be certain that she is aiming her pistol true.
(Ranged attacks are going to suffer a penalty due to the fog and dark).
At about 16 yards away from Fronika the fog swirls and parts to reveal a slimy green monstrosity, with a rotund body that sports patches of scaly hide and a ragged crest that rises from its back. River water drips from its skin as it waddles forwards, dragging a rusty anchor in one hand. Drool runs from a maw filled with sharp fangs ā Fronika has been identified as a potential meal, and the monster is hungry. Its form is quickly shrouded again by the shifting fog, but you can hear it steadily closing in.
(At this stage we are going to start combat. Last chance for RPing reactions)
