“Oy!” “Wut?” Just chat (The Return of)

The later Roadrunner cartoons got really out of hand.

A horrible song parody floated through my head. I shouldn’t be the only one to suffer so:

The problem is all inside your spring
She said to me
The answer is easy if you
Take it logically
I’d like to help you in your struggle
To be free
There must be fifty ways
To toss your torque wrench.
She said, “It’s really not my habit to intrude
Furthermore, I hope my meaning
Won’t be lost or misconstrued
But I’ll repeat myself
At the risk of being crude
There must be fifty ways
to toss your torque wrench

Oh turn it into crafts, man
throw it in tip, Skip
trade it on the truck, Chuck
Just listen to me
leave it in the bus Gus
don't need to discus much
just thow it in the trees Lee
And get yourself free

the fraud was ‘hope people are too embarrassed to give a teller a check from acme pleasureland’, and keep their money? that’s pretty funny. I briefly dated a woman I met in line at the post office. She was returning a sex toy, which I knew because I recognized the po box address she was sending a parcel to from ads in magazines. (not even that sort of magazine.) I said something like “that must be very disappointing”, she blinked and then burst into hysterical laughter. we chatted a bit, and she asked me to lunch.

anyway, the vendor of my nordic bench sent me a txt yesterday, saying it was shipped, delivery friday. This morning the fedex tracking is updated, saying they picked it up on Monday. the tracking was not updated last night, when I saw the text. So it’s all fedex’s fault.

We have returned from the hospital with our 4th child, which also happens to be our 4th daughter. My disguise of “responsible adult” is about as convincing as it can be.

Everyone is happy and healthy; baby is getting a lot of sleep (despite us needing to wake her every couple of hours to ensure she’s getting enough to eat); my partner is recovering well, too, which is good, because parenting a 6, a 4, a 2, and a 0 year old is a full time job for at least two people.

Fortunately for everyone, the baby arrived during Spring Break, so my in-laws didn’t have to figure out how to get 6 and 4 to school while my partner and I were in the hospital. Also, because my sister-in-law’s daughter was on Spring Break, she had taken the entire week off and ended up helping my (65+ year old) in-laws wrangle 3 young children – so all of that worked out as good as it could have. I was worried I wouldn’t have been able to stay at the hospital with my partner if I needed to stay at home to take care of the other 3.

I have just realized that it is really smart to back any crowdfunding campaign at the last moment… because there will be a lot fewer update mails after the campaign is over.

ps i realized this after backing a campaign with 11 days still to go and immediately receiving an update….

Also you know what you’re likely to get in terms of extras.

No idea why I’ve had this scene in my head for a while, but here we are.

One of the best lecturers I had explained NMR splitting patterns with the scene from the Matrix where Agent Smith keeps multiplying himself.

That an saponification via Fight Club.

The matrix came out 25 years ago[1]. It’s very tortured counting that turns that into four decades.

[1] 24 years, 354 days[2]. But who’s counting?

[2] I looked it up.

You neglected to count the main Covid years as the decade they felt like. So I would give it an age of 35 years, which then rounds up to 40.

Funny enough, just today my colleague says „Follow the white rabbit“ (he‘s a lot younger than me and we don‘t always know the same quotes, he doesn‘t even know how ogres are like onions) and I am like „Oi nice Matrix reference.“ and he goes „That‘s Alice in Wonderland if you please.“
„Sorry, for me Matrix is the first step in that chain of references and will always be.“

I have certainly watched Matrix a lot more often than I ever engaged with Alice in Wonderland.
