“Oy!” “Wut?” Just chat (The Return of)

this flag seems to be popular around here? I’m confused. I know we are in Kanton Wallis, but I thought that was that flag of Wales?

Note to self - don’t forget you’ve got someone coming over tomorrow to paint a couple of rooms until 9.30pm the night before and you have to clear everything off and away from the walls. You won’t enjoy it. You won’t

I screwed something up yesterday, trivial in the grand scheme but annoying. Today hoping to rectify some portion of that screw up, I screwed it up a bit further.

This afternoon I’ve cleaned. I wasn’t planning on it coming into the weekend, but it’s at least something I can do, not screw up and feel good about afterwards.

I think we found the connection… we saw some kids from “Skiteam Wales”

Also: both the french Valais and Welsh get translated into “walisisch” in German…

I managed to answer all 5 questions on the Nucelum Australia Quiz correctly without ever clicking on the game’s page or even having played Nucleum. This is a first  Also not a CGE Quiz

If someone says interested in buying it does not constitute a firm offer, even if something happened and the post went up half written and without prices.

Vent done. Thank you

A zippered sweatshirt showed up in the mail, unexpected (and very delayed) swag from a work thing last year. It’s generally pretty nice, and the company logo on it is discrete enough that I might actually wear it outside of my house. Except, I discovered when I put it on, that the zipper pull is on the opposite side from every other men’s garment I’ve ever owned. That turns out to be surprisingly confusing. If I’d bought the thing, I’d send it back, but I didn’t. We’ll have to see if it’s something I can adjust to, or if it ends up discarded.

Have you tried just moving to the x=-x alternate universe?

I did, but everything tasted horrible.

I had a similar issue with a fleece jacket I bought when I was in America. It transpired that it was designed to zip inside a waterproof coat if required.

We offered an espresso to the craftsperson working at the house today–he’s obviously Italian. He asked after what brand of beans we used because he enjoyed it, said it tasted like home. And suddenly he was able to complete the task at hand without help from the electricians. Isn’t that nice?

We always offer espresso to everyone who comes into the house.

I bipped my horn to say hello to someone I passed in my car this morning and I swear she looked everywhere but at the road. If someone bips you, its not coming from the garden next to you, woman!

Ordering something from Amazon, I had the choice of “Frustration-Free Packaging” or “Standard Packaging”. The former being £5 cheaper than the latter.

It arrived today. “Frustration-Free Packaging” evidently means removing all the bits of packaging meant to prevent the item arriving in pieces.

Hopefully I’ll have better luck with the replacement.

I’ve noticed recently that Amazon, perhaps in an attempt to reduce plastic use / save money, has been using card envelopes where the pull tab has no reinforced strip on the back. The result is that you pull to open and the little bit of card rips off. Repeat with the other end of the tab. Open with knife or scissors.

For Christmas, my parents ordered me a heavy hardback book from an Amazon marketplace seller.

It arrived in a jiffy bag and unsurprisingly dented quite badly from its travels. Only option was to send it back for a refund and order a replacement, during which the price rose.

The replacement was packaged in exactly the same way. Can’t really understand the seller’s thought process.
