A few months ago, playing tag with a very fast friend of my daughter’s.

(I remember being short of breath afterwards, and my heart was hammering.)

I did a bunch of sprinting this summer, at age 48, teaching kids on my daughter’s baseball team how to run the bases. Before my time as a baseball coach, I have no idea. Quite possibly not since I was in my early 20s, after I left a would be mugger in a bloody heap.

Running after public transport. 46. Multiple times this year.

Also at work. Each sprint lasts 3 weeks. Tomorrow the current one ends.

I’m in my early 40s, but have small children. I sprint often in short bursts. I sprint less often, but more than never, in longer intervals

If you dont count jogging as sprinting lol: I take public transport, so I sprint.

I have Scrum Mastered over 70 Sprints with my current team, that has to count.

Otherwise I’m similar to others, running for trains out of London at night.

I don’t normally post faux ‘OhMG, I’m so devastated that this random celebrity has died!’ things but have to admit this surprised me

Hardly possible that Captain Holt was his first ever comedy role - he was so good in it.

Yesterday when a colleague came out of the teacher lounge not seeing me and I tried to get the door before it closed again.

I was successful and it felt very satisfying.

You wonder why I am posting this on a boardgame forum?
Well, if not for boardgames, I would never have begun building inserts and if I had not done that I would still believe what I have believed since I was a child that my manual dexterity is insufficient for doing anything more complex with my hands than baking. Because I am left-handed nobody was able to teach me crafts when I was young and also a lot of tools imply right-hand usage. And so it always seemed like it was me and I couldn’t do these things…

This is the Waschküche (washing kitchen) and since we were having some logistics troubles on where to store some things during renovations this room was always packed and so I said “I am going to renovate this one.” If not for boardgames, I wouldn’t have thought I could do it  (there were also holes in the wall that needed repairing, and there was no paint because previously there was wallpaper…)

Tomorrow, I’ll finish the (vinyl) floor. Then our 20 year old ikea kitchen cabinets from the apartment go in there and we’ll have someone come and do a new counter because that is beyond my ability as it goes around a corner and there is a sink going in there as well… if it was just a straight counter… I think I could do it.

I have a bit more appreciation for all the work that was done around the house now and an aching back.

Oh and I finished the flooring on Sunday… it’s so nice to get this done.
I do so many abstract things… and so little with my hands beyond what gets eaten or drunk… doing something with my hands that I can go look at, makes it so I go look at it all the time.

Drinks options from my sister for my mum’s birthday celebration tonight. I have in my head she’s got exactly one drink of each and options dwindle throughout the night.

I am pleased to see the correct squash designation being used. Well done your sister

Got home from work yesterday to find that someone had tried to break into my wife’s car.

At least it appears they did not get in. Out model of car is known for being easy to steal, so if they had gotten in, the car would probably have been taken.

Merry Christmas :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope you all have a few nice holidays with your loved ones (which may include grumpy cats and other pets of course) and get to relax and enjoy the calm before the New Year. Maybe you’ll even get in a few games, who knows?

We kind of did Christmas today, because 25-28 are regular work days. Kids had a good time, and still have a present each from Santa to look forward to.

24th is the main event over here with presents for the kids and all the shenanigans. 25th and 26th are holidays and serve 2 purposes:

  • grownups eat lots of food
  • kids play with the new toys et al and also eat… probably lots of sweets and then at dinner “I am not hungry, mom, can I have more Lebkuchen?”)

We’re having the family over here for Raclette as usual in a couple of hours. And tomorrow we’ll probably be at my in-laws for the traditional fancy goose dinner. 26th and on we get to chill. I go back to work on the 3rd.
