So at this point we have 3 time tokens and an aldrin capsule.
Here’s my understanding.
Each astronaut rolls a d8.
3 time tokens x radiation level 2 =6
But the aldrin shielding reduces the radiation level by one.
So 3 time tokens x radiation level 1 =3
Each astronaut must roll a d8. If they roll 3 or lower they are incapacitated.
@RogerBW care to roll?
@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
I think that is correct.
d8: 4
for 4+
d8: 3
for 4+
One medic heals the other. (Or is that the one with a pilot and a medic aboard? In which case it’s [pool 1;Medic,Pilot] who’s sick, and if it’s the medic the pilot’s just going to have to take steps.)

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
Huh.
All right, d2: 2
1 = sick medic, 2 = sick pilot

There we have it. Rogers Mars Mission successfully arrives at Mars. Eventually.
Anything else required @RogerBW ? Do you want to roll for the return journey?

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
Vostok + Atlas + Supplies lands on Mars and stays over the year boundary.
I’ve lost track of the scores. Do we need to do the Venus mission too?
Mars return health:
Pilot: d8: 7
for 4+
Medic: d8: 3
for 4+
so the medic will die on the way back for -2 points.

RossM:
The year is nineteen fifty-six. Mankind stands at the dawn of a new age, the Space Age, when the flying bombs of yesteryear will become the rocket ships of the race for tomorrow. As the director of a national space program, your country is depending on you for success in this great contest.
The Peoples of Earth have decided that the solar system must be explored almost in it’s entirety. (Except Ceres)
The Age of exploration is almost upon us!
I think Not.
I’ve got a ship on the way to Mercury, Which gives me a limit of 23.
44 Points for this, minus the two. I don’t think anyone else is in a position to complete Venus, if it’s even landable.
Rightoh. I had a Venus Station plan but let’s not go through the faff of running it.
(I’d really like to know whether Venus was landable though.)
Thank you, Ross, and I apologise for suddenly making things super-complicated.
Once Firefly or BotC is over I’ll be interested in playing in, or running, a “full” (base + Outer Planets + Stations) game.

Thank you everyone for a really great game and congrats to Roger
I like the idea of making my own mission book (as Roger mentioned elsewhere) and can’t wait to find the thinky time reserves to load the TTS mod to do that.

Not sure if I ever linked it, but there is a very basic book of missions out there.
Will reveal the whole solar system later.

Oh, is that up to date? I know the BGG version is. I suppose I ought to put it on tekeli.li with the other gaming stuff.

Making up my own missions is fun though

I don’t think it is, and it’s base game only and doesn’t include ion/rocket combos.
Or overboosting to improve speed.

Is space exploration a big deal out there? In the U.K. it’s always been a cottage industry, more about scientific knowledge than manned missions. Also I think The sky at night must be the longest running space tv program in the world.
