Leaving Earth #2

Move Ion Thruster from IPL to EO. See result first - if success: not paying and proceed to purchase

I’ll buy a Saturn and an Ion Thruster

End of turn

Note that if you abandon the damaged ion thruster it’ll be Lost at the end of this turn. Still want to do it?

How can it be repaired then if I cna’t bring it down to Earth?

The way to rescue it would be: to do a successful Rendezvous (noting that if that doesn’t work, you lose both thrusters). then drive it back to Earth. Re-entry won’t be a problem because it’s not a crew-carrying component, and landing is optional (you can use parachutes instead).

Thats fine. Continue with the movement to EO

OK, as it turned out the last outcome on Ion Thruster was a Major Failure. It’s also damaged, and will be lost at the end of this turn.

So you started with ¤30, paid off a minor failure on docking to leave 25, and you have a choice: pay off the major ion failure to leave 20, or leave it on the card and buy both Saturn and another Ion (25).

Pay off and then buy a Soyuz and an Atlas. That leaves me with 5. Another Atlas then.

End of turn

OK, that leaves you with 2 cash in hand.

@yashima to play.

Can I survey Jupiter from fly-by?

Yes, there are manoeuvres that face the Jupiter hazard.

So as I understand it, Kusanagi has arrived in Jupiter Fly-by and is ready to survey.
So Kusanagi surveys Jupiter and sends results back to Earth where we’ll probably figure out Jupiter is as deadly as the rest of the solar system.

Sadly, a probe can only do 1 survey per year and fly-by is not a safe space for a probe. So since Kusanagi can’t stay here the only option is to go to Outer Planets Transfer which takes 2 years and has difficulty 4 which should by fine with the 2 thrusters.

Shinji is still en route.

On Earth, I’ll test the Atlas and buy away whatever.

Jupiter radiation is: roll 1 die per astronaut, incapacitated on a 1. That also triggers the β explorable mission, which is Jupiter Orbiter, 9 points for a probe/capsule in Jupiter orbit.

And you get 5 points for Jupiter Survey.

You could brake down into Jupiter Orbit on the ions… Diff 10, vehicle mass 3, thrust 10/year, could do it in three years. But I’ll put you on the OPT track for now.

Atlas test is a success, bought off for 10, 20 remaining.

We all get cash?

Good point. Yes, I’ll add it next time I fire up TTS.

Buy 2x Ion Thrusters and done.

OK, @Lordof1 to play - with ¤40 in hand.

Okey doke, I’ll buy three Vostok, 2 Soyuz and a Saturn. Leave it at that for the moment.

OK, 3 money left.

ОКБ-1 1965 turn 1
