Last game you DIDN'T buy?

Well I have indeed bought Cascadia.
And the Arnak expansion.

Er, and Imperial Settlers: Empires of the North (a small part of me had been regretting selling Imperial Settlers, and this looks like it removes the bits of it I didn’t like). And someone was selling theirs for £20.

Oh, and The A.R.T Project. Because the art looks great.

Erm, and Horizons of Spirit Island. Because £18 for five new spirits? It’d be rude not to!

I’m now definitely not going to buy A Feast for Odin. Or anything else. Apart from Daybreak, I expect.

There, FTFY

French version of Septima got back to Amazon and the refund went through, but it seems everywhere is now sold out (except one place that has abysmal reviews). So no game for me :pensive:

I’d made a pledge for https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/woodas/piri-piri-summoners-a-wooden-shifty-tile-placement-game on the basis that I find those wooden figures absolutely adorable, and I like that it’s a standard (or certainly usable as one) 54-card deck with rather nice artwork. And aspects of the game really sounded like they would appeal to me. But I knew I needed to sit down and review the game itself before the campaign was over and, noticing that there are only 4 days left, I’ve finally done this. And I’ve cancelled my pledge. Sadly, I just don’t see myself choosing this, or convincing other people to play this, over the abstract games I already enjoy. I’m especially dubious that I could get my partner to play. I’d happily have the cute wooden animals on a shelf, but I don’t want to spend the asking price purely for that.

Here’s hoping that their next game is one that I’m more enthused about.

so a UK retailer is running a preorder for the very hard to get 18Korea, a game where half the map just disappears in the game and you get a stock of special powers at the start of the game.

I’ve (currently) not put in a preorder as it’s £129!

Skipped as well. I’m done buying 18xx that I haven’t tried before.

If System18 ever happens, I think that will cover my 18XX desires

Shackleton Base. I’m all over the theme but I have been bittten before by heavy euros with themes that I loved (l’Aéropostale), and this is very clearly a heavy euro. It may be a great game for people other than me, but when I saw the stack of shuttles that look like the Keyflower boats (you choose one and it determines which colours of astronaut you get)… no thanks, sell it to someone who will enjoy it.

Is that because you bought it?

No, I only got the first email alerting me of these deals the other day, but they have been going on since the 3rd or something, so I was looking at the wrong day’s deal. Didn’t want to post bad info.

I was in Homesense earlier (I think it’s related to TK Maxx in some way) and was surprised to see some decent board games for about £15. The ones I can remember: Horrified, Marvel Villainous, one of the Pandemics, some Unlock games. Might be worth checking out if you have one nearby.

I didn’t buy any games, but I did buy a lampshade.

Need pics of the lampshade

Sounds like an expansion, if I’m honest. Maybe expandalone with houserules?

I’m pretty convinced it’s an essential upgrade to the base. There are complaints without it, it plays too harshly and you need something to smooth it out.

Orleans

But I really want it, I just can’t find it anywhere!

If you have £200 and room spare DLP have the anniversary which has all the expansions.

It’s a lot but it works out broadly the same price I think as the game and expansions. Obviously a gamble and they’ve gone with meeple type dudes rather than discs.

Huh. And it includes the promos. Ergo, no need to promo hunt.

Cheers for the heads up

I really want it, but that’s a lot of money

Damn, Legacy of Yu was on sale for $30.99 online, but it went out of stock while I was busy with some other things before I could finish the purchase. With all the good things I’ve heard about it on here, I’ve been tempted, but the price always puts me off. That was low enough for me to pull the trigger.

Oh well, I guess I still didn’t buy it.
