Last game you bought?

I saw that Rocketmen was priced right in my ‘looks cool, worth buying without a proper playthough’ (under £30 if you care) price so I preordered it.

I mean, I get them for decent price in the UK. But daaaamn €20 for those is hot

Indeed, Germany sounds dreamy

Concerning (euro-)boardgames, I might agree.

As the post-count leader in this thread, I feel it is my responsibility and privilege to make another update, albeit a small one.

Bullet  – This one landed over this past weekend; originally when the Kickstarter project launched for this, I was mostly uninterested. The SHMUP video game genre is one I gently dislike; I would play it for a laugh or two if someone offered me a controller and the game was already at the Ready Player prompt, but that’s about as far as I would go. However, after watching a livestream of the game being played on TTS by some people at L99, I started looking at it a little more deeply. The competitive game mode is timed… and I’m never going to be excited about timed gameplay, though I did like the pace and energy they had on stream; but the co-op boss-mode is not timed and looks to offer a nice Dr. Mario / Super Puzzle Fighter experience… wait a second… this is a Super Puzzle Fighter game with the failed veneer of a SHMUP game! Ahh, now we’re in territory of games I adore (even if I don’t play them any more)

I’ll be very interested to hear what you think of this if you get it played at 2P. If I remember correctly, I ended up backing out the project because of a perceived (potential) counter-pick issue at two players, which would have been the primary count for me. I could have seen my partner really getting into it otherwise, so I’m still very curious.

Gaia Project arrived yesterday. Shocked by how much of the rulebook is dedicated to reassuring players that everything will be okay! Not so many rules in the grand scheme of things

One of my Christmas presents from my partner finally arrived (after having to ask Amazon for a replacement when they said they’d delivered it and nothing had appeared), so I now have The King is Dead!

Here is my public service announcement to put people off buying Arkham Horror LCG:

I have had to buy 3 Return to packs because I’ve run out of storage space in my HUGE box. It is getting to the stage where the Return to boxes will hold the campaigns, and the big box will hold the investigators cards. (Dog for reference)

And here I was hoping you were announcing a Barkham Horror expansion…

I can’t even get a copy of that! :sob:

I had fallen off the horse halfway through Dreameaters. Had hoped to jump back on for posterity, but now realising how badly FFG stock anything that isn’t brand new. Will wait for the next boat whenever that may be!

Seems like mythos packs for the older stuff hits in waves randomly. I couldn’t find Miskatonic Museum pack for Dunwich for a while, then suddenly it was at my FLGS. Same seems true of online game stores like CSI. Just check around periodically and most of the stuff you are looking for will pop up. Not sure about Barkham, though. That may have been a one off. I got lucky to find a copy at a different store in the area just before Christmas and grabbed it, since I couldn’t find it anywhere else for a decent price.

All the recent one off scenario packs seem to sold out to preorders - never seen Barkham or the murder mystery in stock, even on release. I’ll wait and see!

I’m going to be headed out on Sunday to make a trade: my copy of Praga Caput Regni for their sealed copy of Men at Work. It’s not a straight 1:1 deal but I couldn’t bring myself to ask for any extra given it’s new in shrink and, near as I can figure, practically unobtanium domestically.

I wasn’t ready to let Praga go, but sometimes you move the available thing to secure the unavailable one, I guess.

I’ve given up the pretense of curtailing collection growth/turn-over. For now. I hope to eventually get better. Not sure when that will be. I blame lockdown. Also, I am at <0.33 Pillbox. If I stop counting everything “For Trade” I may slide down to 0.25 pillbox.

In any case. My most recent purchase is definitely not my fault but Tom and my partner share the blame for Cubitos.

Also: my pledge of Rocketmen arrived today. This was the smallest pledge possible without most of the fancy bits (just a plastic started figure and a couple of metal coins). Truth be told this was also one my partner wanted… and we will surely play tomorrow or early next week.

Is coefficient-of-pillbox the new standard for measuring collection size?

Yes.

I’m at 0.37 (counting own = yes, for trade = no).

Though there should probably be a correction factor for typical local house size.

What is the value of 1 pillbox?
I’m interested in also using this system.
