I’m jealous of you two. The OLGS I pre-ordered from seems to be recovering from Black Friday still, and hasn’t had a page update since the 24th. I hadn’t been overly concerned about when I’d get it but I’ve had a craving for a big crunchy solo-able game lately… and I’m not immune to the sudden mad popularity.

The Not Alone expansions, Exploration and the new Sanctuary, have now arrived. My copy of the base game is second-hand and quite well worn, so card observation may be a problem, but I look forward to being able to play this.

We played two games last night. I was the “Bladerunner” both times. The first game we both won as I was able to suss that she was human (an unpleasant CANNIBAL human), but was violently killed by her mayoral candidate Ronald C. McCheese persona in the second game. It’s fun. The 5 minute timeframe is a big factor, and I would definitely recommend downloading the app. Very thematic (plus it has a built-in link to the how-to-play video).

I am so tempted by both this and Bug Hunt, but not sure that I really need both (or either, to be honest). Might wait for a bit and let my feelings stew in the meantime.

Yes, I have my eye on Bug Hunt as well, which looks like a much lighter game (and you don’t even get alien figures). Still could be a lot of fun. Kinda sucks I had to order direct from Gale Force 9, some problem with the license in Australia.

I’m not sure if it will be a Christmas or birthday present for my son, but I just grabbed a copy of Rangers of Shadowdeep Deluxe Edition of Amazon for about 32% off!
I’m thinking maybe closer to his day in late January as that will be closer to when we get BlackList Miniatures Fantasy Series 1 delivered…because we definitely need more minis!

The ‘official’ range of minis for Rangers of Shadowdeep are sold by Northstar Military Figures, and there’s some nice figures there. The real joy is having an excuse to collect a whole range of different figures from all over the place. I would recommend that you don’t worry about replicating all the monsters precisely (unless you really want to of course!) Switching out gnoll for something more common like orcs or goblins is likely an easier prospect to source (although Northstar do a great multi part plastic gnoll set).

Of course many of the “classic” D&D monsters came from a packet of cheap plastic toys anyway.

Yeah, I’m not intending to try to match them perfectly.
Between the minis we have from various games, and the box from BlackList, we’ll have a large variety.
I believe it’s the first mission that has “giant flys”, but I’ll probably use some Warhammer beasts or harpies for example. The only time I’ll really have to stretch things is if there is ever a horde as I think we top out at 3-5 for most units in any of our games.
I can definitely see me using this as an excuse (as if I need one) to grab some of the Epic Encounters from SFG. They seem to have a nice variety of sculpts and themed packs for a decent price.
Either way, I’m not going to stress about that stuff.
I’m also considering A Song of Blades and Heroes as a really simple miniature agnostic skirmish game. The book is only about $15-20, so seems like a small enough investment to give it a try.

Have a look at One Page Rules. They produce a set of simplified rules for both fantasy and Sci-fi wargaming, ranging from skirmish to mass rank and file. I believe the basic rules are free.

I just pre-ordered Coffee Traders and Alice Is Missing (rpg) because I discovered unspent gift cards. I still have lots left over, so as soon as my FLGS starts taking pre-orders for Ginkgopolis, I’ll be getting that, too.

I’m currently eyeing a copy of food chain magnate from Greece and wondering if I should order it now to get It in the country before January or will the reprinted version be available in the UK, or if it is available will it be available without significant price hikes for taxes.
