Another, not that it’s a competition, Bad Mouse Event is the one that happens when one is feeling horrible and dozing. Cat comes in, jumps on bed, dances about a bit and is ignored. Jumps down, jumps up again and then does that affectionate headbutt to the face with a gobful of mouse. Which he then releases into the bed clothes for additional hunting fun…
Our house was converted from a tiny restaurant, and after we moved in we started hearing REALLY LOUD noises in the walls, thought maybe a weasel or something had got in. When the floor was torn up to reveal the renovators had left an unused drain pipe uncapped, we found the insulation full of mouse piss and shit, and several mice were caught. No weasel, obviously.
Won a lottery through the Hamilton app which let us purchase two tickets to a showing next Saturday for $10 each. Been a while since I’ve seen a live show. Should be fun.
Oh yes, we DEFINITELY know this one.
I now try and feel the cats head anytime she jumps on the bed for anything I should know about BEFORE she releases it
Some years ago someone used an early digital camera for Optical Cat Recognition: if the cat had a mouse in its mouth, the catflap wouldn’t open to let it in…
My in-laws unsurprisingly tested positive for Covid after a packed weekend bus tour of resort country, which takes them out of the childcare rotation. Kids spent the day there on Thursday, so we’re in house lockdown until Wednesday this week on watch for symptoms. I’m currently cashing in a sick day, but probably spending more time on my screen that I would if I were there. My students are in the midst of some complicated work, and the sub seems determined to be more cool than supportive.
We got a call from our 8 year-old’s teacher today that he had fallen “while trying to lick water on the playground” and chipped his front tooth. When asked how badly, the response was that it was noticeable. We went ahead and made a dentist appointment for him for tomorrow.
When he got home, we realized it was more than noticeable, his tooth was diagonally split in half! At least he does not appear to be in pain. Not sure what the denstist will do with it. Just worried if he needs to be sedated, as apparently our insurance no longer covers that with that provider. And being autistic, virtually any major dental stuff has required sedation, even just for cleaning.
Ouch!. Hopefully everything will go OK. That must have been a nasty knock.
Actually, after we contacted the teacher for more information, it seems he did not fall at all. Apparently he likes sucking water off of the playground equipment (autism…yay?) and this time managed to knock his tooth accidentally which chipped it off. If we can trust the teacher’s version, anyway.
I do remember his dentist warning us about something weird with his baby teeth, like they were dissolving. So I wonder if the adult teeth had some similar issue and the integrity was less. So it is possible, I suppose. Hopefully we can get some answers tomorrow.
I suspect they’ll be able to make it look really good.
When I was young I dived into a swimming pool rather too enthusiastically and chipped off a fairly large piece of one of my front teeth on the bottom, and they made it so you’d never know anything had happened. It’s remarkable what they can do. A piece of the material used to hold the false part in place came away about 30 years later and needed to be fixed up, and that’s the only issue I’ve ever had with it.
Yeah I had two teeth smashed after being accidentally hit in the mouth with a tennis racket. You wouldn’t notice now.
(I was mainly annoyed because Id worn a brace to make those teeth straight - if Id have known I just had to have them broken to get it fixed, I might have done it earlier! I hated that brace…)
Just tested positive to confirm my third bout of Covid 19. What joys!
Given how long covid stole around 9 months of my life last time I’m bricking it. If I get brain fog again then doing a degree and learning to be a dev will be challenging to say the least.
Plus side at least I’ll be out of worrying about isolation for my wedding in 12 days time. So it’s not all bad…
Wish you all the best and hope you’ll have an easier time with it now!
Hoping for the best. For what it’s worth there do seem to be a lot of less-bad variant about now.
Fingers crossed, it won’t be too bad this time? At least I very much hope for that.
Today was my first day out of isolation. Woo hoo, I know i was lucky to only have a mild case of covid but being stuck in the house was really starting to bug me.
Now I’ve got a flight to Bristol for work meetings on Monday and Tuesday of next week. First time flying in over 2 years. Quite exciting really.
I hope you had a great time!
We have this one local theatre where the centre front row is “best seats in the house” and the centre second row is “amongst the worst seats in the house” because (incredibly) the first and second row seats are not staggered, meaning centre second row can’t see the centre stage unless the person in front of them is a small child. Are second row seats cheaper? Hahahahahaha no, they are not. The place is currently undergoing renovations, and my goodness I hope they fix that in the process.
Your seats look fabulous – I hope you had an amazing night!
