Fury of Dracula PBF - Game 1

Combat in Valona - Round 3

Dracula plays Fangs
Mina plays Punch

Punch does not cancel Fangs.
Reckless Vampire gains 1 HP (would be 2, but he’s only missing 1).
Because it is Night, and Mina is Mesmerized, she does not receive damage, but is bitten and removed from the combat, as per the Fangs card. As Mina has a permanent bite mark, this is enough to Defeat her.

Mina is removed from the board. At the next dawn, she will be placed in the nearest hospital (Budapest), be healed to full, and have to discard her items and events (but not train tickets).

Meanwhile, Dracula gains 2 influence for defeating a hunter (2 + number of Despair tokens), plus 1 for the Fangs card. Reckless Vampire remains in Valona.

And with that, it is now Dracula’s (@RossM) turn.

It’s a good thing I’m not in Bupapest!

Tough fight Mina, but unlucky. Our struggle goes on!

Rules for Hospitals:

Hospitals can only be entered by a defeated Hunter at the next dawn.

They are considered adjacent to the cities they are attached to (Budapest, Rome, Madrid), so a Hunter in a hospital cannot Trade with someone in the city, or participate in combat, etc. The Hunter would also not reveal if that city was on the Trail at this time.

Hunters in a Hospital can either move to the adjacent city or do a special Supply action, which gains them 1 item card.

Dracula matures the hideout in Valona. Maturing the Reckless Vampire gains him 4 influence, bringing him to 7 of the 13 needed to win.

Hideouts 4, 5, and 6 are cleared from the trail, per the wording on Reckless Vampire.

Dracula moves.

Dawn
Mina is moved to the Hospital at Budapest, losing her item and event, but healing her 2 damage.

The first Despair token is in play.

Play any events if you have them, otherwise…

Week 2, Mon - Day

Note that Dracula has a damage marker now, as I forgot to put one on the board when he used Wolf Form.

The new week begins with Lord Godalming (@Whistle_Pig).

Dracula moves - so he is still on land?

He most certainly is.

Sorry for all the edits, I forgot to clear the last three hideouts from the trail, as per the Maturing text of Reckless Vampire.

Good. Time to start replotting where he is then! Back in a bit after Godalming has moved.

We know he moved two spaces in Wolf Form leaving Valona.

We haven’t found his trace in Zagreb or Sarjevo.

Which sort of argues that he’s gone to the shores of the Black Sea and circled around Castle Dracula.

I would suggest that Dr Seward (is it?) heads to Sezged or Klausenberg. If he finds the trail I’ll move towards him, if not I’ll head north to Zurich since no-one has gone there…

But I can’t see any way he could have got that far West without our running across the trail by now…

Arrrrgh! Curse his fiendish cunning!

There’s a chance he is now heading through Zagreb or Sarajevo, after I have just left it.

I think there is a greater chance that he is where you propose, either along the Black Sea coast or around Castle Dracula.

I’ll think on it a bit, but (spoilers!) I have the Chartered Carriage event card, so I can get by train to Constanta, Varna, Salonica or Galatz this turn - or Belgrade, Bucharest or Sofia - if we think he is that far east, or we want to try and limit him running further east, or push him to sea.

If a combo of Godalming and Van Helsing can close the net a little at the west - bearing in mind there are a few choke points from Prague and Munich south east, then we’ll see if we can turn the tide in week 2.

Suggestions welcome!

I’ll take a train to Prague

If you waited for Mina you could use her power.

Not road - or burning a crappy train ticket?

The latter

I could - but it would be more fun to happen across your path or some of your minions and have a bit of a scrap. Decisions, decisions.

Okay - long enough thinking.

Dr Seward will use his Chartered Carriage event card and 2/1 ticket to travel to Constanta.

Might prove too far but will at least cut off one route to sea.

Dammit !!!

Taking a short pause, I need @Whistle_Pig to clarify something in PM for Godalming’s action.

Okay, Lord Godalming chooses to travel by road to Prague, instead of rail.

Dr. Seward uses Chartered Carriage and a 2/1 ticket and travels to Constanta.

There he finds…nothing.

Van Helsing (@MichaelCule), you’re up!
