Inevitable joke - you’re on the right, aren’t you?
Face swap incoming…

I bought all the things I had marked as “definitely buying” and nothing else today
Played
- Nekojima . would have bought. retails 2024. Stacking game.
- Hamlet. Not bad. Would play again if someone really wanted to.
- Ancient Knowledge. Combotastic card game. Might still jump. plays up to 4. worked well at 2 but except for a few take that cards little interaction. you’re in your tableau pushing you’re cards…
Got explanations for
- Terra Pyramides. Sounds fun maybe we’ll manage to get that single table tomorrow? Nice shared board. still reminds me of T&E despite not being like that at all. you build rows and columns of tiles that give you resources with which you build up pyramids. there are a lot of spatial elements
- Oros. sounds more fun than i thought. moving tiles around the board which potentially have your opponents pieces on them is fun right?
- Iluliaq: throwing cards… is not really a game is it?
- Ark Nova expansion: looking good adding stuff but not rules

Today’s plays:
- Nunatak: shared competitive ice pyramid building with area majority and card collection which reminded me a bit of Nidavellir. Very good and went by so fast we didn’t even notice.
- Mlem Space Agency: pretty good push your luck dice game by Knizia with an incredibly cute theme
- Empire’s End: Mr Space Base does a civ game. there is some shared dna with SB. you’re empire is in decline. there is a fixed sequence of events in which you have to bid No Thanks style to avoid catastrophes that might destroy one of your 11 building slots. if you take some fire though you get to use it to upgrade another slot. there are some resources to be gained, stuff to build and fights to win. I liked it fine. my partner ran out of resources and couldn’t bid anymore and got desperate when his empire burned and burned and burned…
Bought: Evergreen expansion and Archipelago boards for railroad ink.
Almost bought but didn’t:
- Dicetree Edition of Modern Art is incredibly beautiful. but i have yet to play the oink version i already own
- Escape Curse of the Temple Big Box which is normally much more unavailable and often way more expensive but it’s it realistic that I get it played?
- Horrified Greek Monsters. I have a bunch of coop games that i enjoy. so i really need another one?
- Evacuation + Nucleum: no tables to be had to test. I think I can wait for a bit to await the verdict of others.

My other “seeing the show” time is Sunday morning, but here’s an important spot, just north of the Messe.

I forgot we got explanations for
- The Glade: Calico on steroids with some interaction
- Fit for print: Galaxy Trucker but a newspaper and no asteroids and no space pirates
- 20 Strong: only sold as an overpriced 70€ bundle. the idea looks tasty. A solo boss battler with a dice pool that shrinks and as such represents your health. but the price kills it.
- Floe: a coming Kickstarter with Art by Andrew Bosley(?) which was the most appealing part. reminded me of Dwellings of Eldervalea little. Some resource management, some character development, some fighting… not for me no matter how pretty

Games played:
- Newsboys: neat roll and write I bought because it’s good fun and I wanted a Japanese game.
- Forest Shuffle: nature themed card game with tuckable multi use cards, combos and some tempo play. was sold out. might have bought. very good fun. eager to play again. maybe our friends will get it?
- Feed the Kraken. We were badgered into participating in this map based Resistance iteration. it was good fun but i don’t need to own this. if you enjoy the style and get a chance to try it’s worth the time.
- Dobble Connect: watching our friends play this was enough to stress me out. I hate Set. this is as bad.
Bought: Newsboys, In Front of the Elevator & Escape Curse of the Temple BigBox
Got explanations:
- Solar Sphere: build a Dyson sphere with dice. I’m sure there’s s pun there. in any case it seemed a bit too convoluted.
Didn’t buy:
- the Laserox insert for Mage Knight that costs more than the game
Games that I put in my cart because they are cheaper outside the fair:
- Cat in the box
- Ancient Knowledge
- Forest Shuffle
- Mlem Space Agency
Games I couldn’t get a table for and didn’t want to blind buy but hoping to see the internet verdict soon:
- Kutna Hora
- Evacuation
- Nucleum
And that was this year’s fair for us. I’ll write up more of it when i have a keyboard. mobile phone is a bit too difficult writing coherent sentences

Did anyone see Kiri-Ai: the Duel? A Samurai duel in just 16 cards sounds interesting to me.
