Dice roller ahoy!

[roll 4d3 - 4]

4d3: 3 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 8-4

(This thread is for feedback on the dice roller, which is being maintained by @RogerBW on github. Bug reports welcome. Bug reports with fixes even more welcome.)

The big disadvantage of this system, which is why I prefer discobot, is that it doesn’t show you who wrote the original post.

Oh well. It’s easy enough to do arithmetic.

[roll 4dF]

@discobot roll 4d3-4

@discobot roll 4d3 - 4

@discobot roll 4dF

Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help.

RogerBW suspects that
[roll 4d3-8]
will work.

Or not.
@discobot roll 4d3-8

Tut! At this rate I’ll have to write my own.

Ross rolling vs intrigue 15 d20: 8

I always include my name. Plus you can see who rolled by clicking the little red pencil icon.

This is much like sitting across the room from two people who are desperately trying to get Alexa to play their favourite Allman Brothers album.

I started with the one currently running here, and GitHub - Firedrake/discourse-dice-roller: Adds [roll XdY] macro to Discourse is the result. I plan to switch over to it next time there’s an upgrade. Advantages:

  • tags the post with the original author’s name
  • does +/-
  • does dF
  • does d% (because once I’d added support for dF, why not?)

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
Like this (he said, hoping it would work):

3d6-7: 6 + 4 + 2 = 5
4dF: 1 + 0 + 0 + -1 = 0
2d%: 14 + 12 = 26
