I still think 1–X–4 where my hunch for X=3 hasn’t changed but as stated I am not quite firm about the Beatles song and could also go with 2 instead.
I don’t understand the arguments for 134 or 123. Can someone help me out?

My guess for 3 for the Beatles is no more than a hunch because I just cannot figure out a connection with our guess for word 2. But my knowledge of Beatles songs is very little.
The comic character I would make a case for this being written as character not hero. Which is why I would go with 4 and not 3.

If 1 is food related then it could easily relate to the Beatles song (honey pie). It could also relate to opening the door (an oven)
If 2 is forest related it could be the Beatles - Norwegian wood but it could be something else. Additionally groot is a tree also poison ivy fits here.
If 3 is eye then Hawkeye is a great shout. It could also link to the phrase “eye opening”/open the door.
If 4 is skeleton it could easily link to the comic book character red skull.
Summarising.
Open = 1 or 3
Beatles = 2 or 1
Comic = 2, 3 or 4

OK, noted. I think 124 has the most support, if only because I’m the only one not splitting my vote.
I’m least keen on the link between skeleton and a comic book character. I think Hawkeye is the best one
Of course a hawk could live in a forest too.
I think 1 & 2 are the best fits for the first clues.
Comic character is a toss up between 3&4 IMO. I think we’re more happy with our guess for key word 4 than we are for 3 at the moment. My first instinct was Skeletor, but they are a cartoon character, not a comic. I’ve never heard of Red Skull - but if 2 of their team have then that’s all they need. Therefore Comic Character probably fits what I think key word 3 is better than 4. Hence 123, but that is not a hill I’m prepared to die on as it’s due to my frame of reference. 124 would be fine with me.
